Hello,I began my first overclocking attempt ever a few days ago and have currently reverted back to my base clock on my 4770k.
I used 3d mark firestrike extreme for my benchmarks. At stock 3.5 GHz I got a score of 9150. I then overclocked to 4.3 GHz which got me to 9200. This difference should be higher based on what I had seen around on the internet.
My specs are:
intel i7-4770k
Cooler Master v8 GTS
GTX 1080 FE stock
2400 mhz Gskill 2x8gb
msi gaming 7 z97 mb
Is there anything that stands out about my build as wrong, should I overclock the GPU to get results or is overclocking not worth it in my system? Could it also be that my CPU is 5 years old and just not what it used to be or that I lost the "silicon lottery" that I hear people mention.
