Now I am sort of pissed that I bought the 4850 with those numbers... I still haven't received it yet.. but by the looks of it I probably will return it for the 4870.... 4850 = %40 faster than my 8800GTS320 .... 4870 = %30 faster than the 4850 .... 4870 = %70 faster than 8800GTS320 .... "drools" although does 30% justify the $100 price increase.. I guess if you already have a half decent card.. DAMMIT!

(stay tuned for my mega awesome super-duper review on this card the day it come in) ..Picture Galore..

Could someone post a mirror'd site or maybe direct images or something? IE 6 and McAfee shield (forced to have them here) don't like the chinese site or the expressreview site for some reason. It's wicked slow and I'm getting broken images all the time.

LOL thats it im getting a 4850 since i can get one from newegg for 170$.
Thanks to firefox i still had the $30 rebate in cache before they took it down lol

I was pleased that the article mentioned ATI will allow add in board partners to release overclocked versions of the 4850 and 4870. Wow! With scores like that I would really like to see what the likes of HIS or Sapphire will do with after market heatsinks and clocks speeds. Nice!

For $299, you can buy two of those for the price of a GTX 280 and have Crossfire support on future Nehalem systems guaranteed. I think its safe to say that either Nvidia needs to lower the GT200 series prices to mid $300's or ATI is the only logical choice given price/performance this round. Having 10fps more performance than the 4870 doesn't warrant twice the price. I'm an Nvidia fanboy saying Nvidia = FAIL this round. Red Team (the other Green team: AMD) Wins!

It will also be very interesting to see the first x-fire benchmarks. I hope they scale well. Maybe in about 6 months when I have saved enough cash I can build a Nehalem system with a x2 one of these.

ATI IS MAKING A COMEBACK! I cant wait to get my hands on Crossfire 4870's its going to be amazing. Since the early days of the dominant 9800pro's I've been going with Nvidia, its so nice being able to come back to ATI!

4850 and 4870 seem awesome performer for $$$.

Temperature and power consumption are a bit high though.

You can already add the cost of an aftermarket cooler for the 4850, which bring the price even closer to the 4870.

I don't think my Corsair VX550 would hold here. I guess I have to buy another PSU along with the 4870.

Anyway, glad to see ATI/NVidia in battle again.

I'm sure it can handle it. They had a max of almost 400W with 4870 and I believe the amps are going to suffice. 😉 If it isn't enough I will be in trouble too because I have an OCZ StealthStream 600.

Ok, I read back through the review and thought that I may have found something interesting. The power consumption is not of just the video card but the whole system/platform!!! I don't think that this is that bad, its about 6 60w light bulbs, THAT’S IT!

If that is true that the peak is only that high, then I will be running these in CF when they come out. I am so glad that I picked up my Asus Rampage Formula and gave my old 680i away (to my brother, he will also be getting my 8800 gtx soon too:))!!!

Results look nice. However...

"Official Release" is tomorrow. All indications point to the actual availabilityof 4780 512mb will be miniscule for the next couple weeks -- and 4780 1024mb will be no where to be seen for quite a while, possibly not until August. A pseudo-paper launch...

I agree with 3ball, This seems too well thought out to be faked. I like the results, but with the differences between the two cards, these kind of results were almost expected after seeing what the 4850 can do. I'll still check out some more reviews before i buy though, just to get a better idea after drivers mature. Anyway, I like how they give you an overall percentage difference in peroformance at all the settings, this also allows me to go and pick out my standard settings, and see what MY particular setup might be capable of, nice find.

it sucks how it can't atleast beat the 3870 X2 lol...Thats funny the 4780 can't beat their X2 card, and the 280 GTX can't beat their GX2 card😀 haha😛

Dude, it is from China...and launch is tomorrow...they get their cards weeks before we do. They could have fudged numbers or OCd without reporting it but indeed they did test a 4870.

Take note that their QX9650 was OCd to 4GHz....so the numbers might be a little high in 3Dmark. For dual core users...you might see better FPS in games however.

The thing that is going to choke hold nvidia is the 4870 is priced at 299 and im sure there will be rebates for the card bringing that further down to 270 or so. In those benchies if they are true the 4870 beats the gtx-280 in some test's and beats the gtx-260 in almost all tests that is very very bad news for the green team right now.

I think i will retire my old 8800gt and buy my first ever Ati card!

I like the look of the red pcb too!

On another note there will be overclocked card's coming very soon from both 4850&4870 plus the 4870 should debue with 1g of ram at some time too.

Man Ati is like they used to be! Its great!!

Ohh and i had to read the review before i posted to whoever gave me a negative!
