Hello,

I have read numerous threads on these forums and other sites, but as my situation varies a bit, I figured posting a new thread may be necessary. I just forked out about 1500$ last week and built a pretty beastly HTPC Media Center and an H5360 Projector. After I purchased the 550 ti, I did a bit more reading and realized the 560 non-ti is supposedly quite a bit better for what looks like only about 20-30$ extra (after mail in rebate).

So my question is, should I keep the 550 TI or send it back and grab a 560 non-TI instead?

550ti (currently using) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625
560 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130660

Some key points to note...

1) H5360 Projector supports a maximum resolution of 1280x720, so playing games/movies/etc. in 1080p is probably not going to be a concern ever with this machine.
2) I also purchased the 3D Vision 2 Kit and I assume this may benefit from a better card as well

Thanks for any input!

If you are gaming at the projectors resolution, then the 550 Ti you have will be decent overall and should play games on high settings, but if you want to crank up the eye candy, I would go with the 560 and you should be able to max out a few modern games at that resolution. Test your 550 Ti since you have it already and report back with your results.

Thank you, that was what I was thinking but wasn't sure. At this point it probably isn't worth it to send it back due to the resolution of the projector, but wanted to hear what others thought. If Newegg didn't charge a 15% restocking fee it would be fine, but for a small increase in performance, probably just keep the 550ti.

The 30-35% will come in handy especially in you want to game in 3D. If you are using the 3D Vision Kit for movies only, you won't really see a benefit upgrading to the 560. I've watched 3d bluray movies using a gts 330m without any issues.

Everyday I regret buyng the 550ti. I am now saving my money for a card that I will not have to worry about. Something really good. Then I will sell my 550ti and learn my lesson. From my experience the 560 is the lowest tier one should go to enjoy their gaming ect. The 550 group and lower just don't cut it.

I completely agree.
