As another one of the swarm (suckers?) waiting eagerly for the 448 core 560 TI to come out, I've got to wonder; how many people are ALSO waiting for this architecture to come out and how long until we actually see cards for the architecture? Is just the base architecture being unveiled on the 29th and THEN the companies will come in with their aftermarket coolers and overclocking tweaks or will they (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, etc.) just dump their stock of 560 TI 448 cores on the market that same day? It seems like it would be suicidal for them from a company perspective, if they wanted any of this potential market at all, and assuming there are a LOT of people waiting for these freaking cards to come out, NOT to release them on the 29th because that is when everyone will be searching for them and what we have all been led to believe will happen.

This is such a weird product launch, who is with me on this? The cards are essentially going to be marketed as the SAME as 560 TIs on the surface but are going to be completely different cards underneath the hoods (or so we have been led to believe). I mean how much better is it to have the G110 Silicon as opposed to the G114 Silicon on the older 560 TIs and down in the 500 series? What price point should we expect, ESPECIALLY if these cards come with just 1GB of VRAM? What will it do to the prices of NORMAL 560 TIs at, let's say, above $235-245? How are those cards going to be able to compete with a new price structure? And for god's sakes what about the 570 prices???? From the tech specs one can infer, though the one inferring in this case is a complete n00b for lack of a better term, that the 560 ti 448 CUDA is going to be at WORST 90% as powerful as a reference 570. I MEAN THIS IS MADNESS!!!!! SPARRRRTTAAAA GRAAAAAAAAAAAAA I AM GOING CRAZY OVER THIS STUPID FREAKING CARD ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!

Solution
PS, id say get the ATI.

Why?

1) limited production of this card. SLI might be out of the question unless you buy 2 within a few months.

2) Performance boost vs 560ti doesnt warrant the extra cost, right now you can get a free game and such for around 220 or less on a 560ti and free shipping on the 900mhz EVGA card. These cards you get slightly better performance, an extra 256MB or so of video ram, but no free game, and a 8 dollar shipping card. So total extra cost is right around 80 bucks. Too much for what you are getting vs what you can get for a regular 560TI

The only possible con I can see with the ATI is the driver problems ive been hearing..and thats only hearsay.

Id say to be fair, you should give them equal overclocks from their base listed if possible. So an MSI at 1Ghz is 120 over its listed speeds. So a 797Mhz 448 should be at 917Mhz. Possible..i think...itd be close. Ive seen a FTW 448 running at 900mhz..so surely the Classified could pull off a 917.

You cant overclock one card and leave the other at its factory speeds IMHO, that leads to an unfair review, which of course all the 448 reviewers did when comparing factory OCed 448s to a base 570.

PS. On another site they have the MSI version of the 448 running at 945mhz, so a 917 should be easy to get on an evga.

Yes, I think you misunderstand my last. Whatever the average maximum OC clock speed is of both cards. 1.25gb 448 core vs 2gb 384. That would be an interesting match I think. Most of us are going to OC them to the limit regardless and the 2 gig 384 core is about $30 cheaper than 448 core.

I did not know the 448 was getting such high clocks. 945mhz is nice. Does the 570 get clocks like that 2? I thought it was a weaker oc....(the 448 is basically a 570 as we all know)

Sunfighter, yes 570's did increase in price. I don't see any increases in 384 cores thou. That out of stock sub $300 570 also haunts me on the newegg lol.

Kyle--

I was somewhat able to find what you asked somewhat. Or at least this is the first chart. Its different brands an Asus 560ti at 900 vs an MSI brand 448. But it can give a general idea i think. a 900mhz 560ti is only a few FPS slower than a 750mhz 448. You can extrapolate somewhat to get another idea of what itd be at 850mhz 448 vs a 1Ghz 560ti

so, based on this chart, at 1920x1080 it would be fair to say a 384 core OC'd to 1ghz would perform roughly on par with a 448 core at stock speeds.

For sli users thou I think the 384 is still the obvious win. Less power, less heat, higher oc% on avg, and two 2gb versions will cost you at least $70 less for 2x.

the source sez legit.com...so its gotta be legit rite? lulul

732mhz is the "reference" speed of the 448, though the vast majority wont ever see that speed I think. Gigabyte is the only one that uses the reference 732. I assume with the cooler on it they expect the end-user to do the OC themselves.

What surprises me more about that chart is that you need to OC a 448 only 18mhz to match a base 570 pretty much, probably an even 20 would tie it exactly. That really makes the 289.99 versions make sense then. Considering you cant really find a 570 for under 320 (right now). ESPECIALLY considering the ONLY 289.99 one is the EVGA FTW which is actually clocked at 797Mhz and you only 752Mhz to match a 570 via that chart. So, in theory, the 289.99 FTW is faster than a base 570 right now. And the cheapest one not including rebates is 339.99. (PS - Im basing this on a 1900x1080 resolution, single monitor)

NOTE: The ASUS triple slot 570 has a rebate down to 309.99. Which is competitive with the 289.99 448 IMHO.

oh good eye on the asus card.

The price of EVGA 448's are definitely reasonable, I just wish they declared how limited exactly the series is. The prospect of not being able to sli in the future because of a lack of chips is unnerving.

or maybe the only 2 448s for sale on ebay a year from now are for 8 million.

Galaxy has had the 570 for 289.99 AFTER the $50 MIR , and you can get 2 MIR per household ..I have been following for some time. but people seem to not liek the galaxy brand ..and some reviewers have said it is fine..just was not ..and the whole horror stories of some companies never sending back the MIR ..although I did buy a galaxy prdouct a few months that had a $15 MIR , and I did get the MIR back fairly promptly.

oh i thought u meant better looking cards mentally speaking. loljk

Don't think we will be seeing any 570's below $300 anytime soon. I'm sure galaxy is just as good as any other card or board manufacturer. They have yet to become popular in this market thou. Big names are still asus, gig, msi, evga...thou I vaguely remember when asus and msi were new market entries like galaxy or zotac now. Time will tell how reliable their customer service is...thats really all that matters in the end when your picking brands.

And ofcourse their fold down/out fans. Makes for easier cleaning.

I consider them like HiS. Really nice cooling cards, but for some reason have a higher then normal failure rate. I've heard lots of stories about HiS cards, not sure I've ever met someone with a working one...

yeah Matto , I have seen those on Galaxy cards and the prices were good too..but again , I jsut havent seen enough people with long ownership to tell if was worth taking the chance. I think that was on the 580 or or 6870 model ..I cant remember ..btw curious how is that PNY 580 wrking out ..they had some great deals a while back too, although some people had they had problems with cards going in a few months ..I still might take the Galaxy chance ..just wanted to see some results from 448's and see how prices settle in a week or so (might go up I know ,lol) if they had put that cooling on the 570's with $50 MIR ..I prolly woulda bought 2 , lol ..I just cant kill my 8800GTS's ..no matter what I throw at them, Fallout, STO, DCUJO, FFXiV , Civ V (actually Civ V they will start artifacting after about 6-8 hrs straight, but let them cool down, and they are fine) ..they just wont die, lol ..not short of me intentionally frying them of course

PNY has been golden, no problems, lifetime warranty, good price, what more could you want?

sure they have a lifetime warranty, but do they pay for shipping when u need to RMA? Do they forgive you when you forget to sign up for the warranty 3 years ago? Do they replace your card when you accidentally dropped a hot pocket into ur gpu? EVGA has done all of these things for me. lol ok the hot pocket was a bit exaggerated.

Its good to see decent competition for EVGA popping up thou. XFX has had epic warranty for a while as well. PNY is coming up fast I hear.

This is an interesting topic to me, but can we stay on task lol. 448, how are they working out for you buyers?

as the 560 Ti can already OC to the performance of a 570....
I was commenting on this, why did you mention the GTX 480 and GTX 580 ?
your GTX 480 is faster than the 560ti so there's no comparison.
And again the only way to match the GTX 570 performance is 1 GHz OC which is hard for normal users to achieve,

That's the insane OCing i'm talking about.
