Hey all,
I got the 5700XT Rog Strix a few days ago for €455 with a cashback of €45 so I basically payed €410 - for the record 5700XT pulse is €445. It was dirt cheap so I got my firs Strix card! I had already heard about the Strix reaching temps of over 80C and the cooler being installed in a way that the heatsink doesn't contact certain areas of the PCB. But then again, I though 'cheap and good looking 5700XT for a low price.' Now that I've fully tested it it reaches temps of over 83C ! After installing the new bios which is told to be more efficient than the previous one bla bla. It made zero difference for me.
Now I've undervolted and did a slight underclock and temps are not going over 80C now with the same fan speed. (2500rpm)
I brought the core frequency down to 2010mhz @ 1.065v from the stock 2045mhz @ 1.200v. I am using Superposition game to benchmark the card. It has a steady 99% GPU usage. In games such as Forza Horizon 4 My usage varies from 94-99 and my temps usually stay below 77C. So the benchmark is basically a stress test that isn't really realistic as I never have a steady 99% GPU usage in any game that I've tested. Before the undervolt my temps would reach 80C in FH4. So it's a big improvement.
So my question is; do you guys think those temps are fine? And do you think I should get my voltage down to ~1.050v (in that case I would have to lower my core frequency down to ~1950mhz). Or should I go even lower than that?
I think that would give me an aditional 1C at most. I am not sure about how much of a performance hit I'd get by doing that..
And also; I get small artifacts in game menus and maps. Such as in the menu of R6S and map on FH4. When I'm ingame I don't get any so it doesn't really bother me that much. I've heard about game crashes, low GPU usage and much worse artifacts so I didn't even go back to a previous driver as I didn't want to make it worse. and thenagain, it's not that bad. (The artifacts have a width of about 5 to 25cm in a horizontal line and only show for 1-2seconds) I get multiple of those in the map of FH4 and a couple in the menu of R6S . Uuh also.. on my second monitor I get really bad ghosting, when I move something I can see a black trail following it. Like it's super bad. If I unplug my main monitor which makes the second monitor main the ghosting goes away completely. So that is kinda annoying and weird aswell.
Soooo what do you guys recommend me doing?
