Hi
I have a GTX 680 running on 3 monitors (Connections are a DVI, DVI to HDMI and a HDMI) and It won't run at 5760x1080, as in I have no option to do so, even though my monitors normally run at 1920x1080... Why is this!? PLEASE HELP, the max res I can choose is 4523x900 🙁

Thanks

Dan

Your monitors are not supported because of the different timings on each which is why it will not display the proper resolution no matter what you do. Now you can try "hacked" display timing drivers where you customize each timing to each monitor but its risky and you could end up damaging the monitors. I would recommend before actually doing a surround buy 3 same identical monitors to avoid the timing issues. Even though all the monitors are the same resolution and refresh rates they may have slightly different timings which makes Nvidias surround not work as they say its not supported.

Otherwise you could try softTH custom drivers for surround because that ignores the differences in timings/refresh rates of the monitors.

They all are at 60Hz normally...

Doesn't matter if they are all the same refresh rate, thats only 1/4th of the problem. The problem is that the vertical and horizontal timings are different for each monitor. Now you can make a hacked driver for Nvidia that tricks it into thinking that they are the same timings and everything but this is dangerous because you can break a monitor that doesnt support the different timings even if its off by 1/10000th of a decimal.

If you require more knowledge about "hacked drivers" follow this link to the nvidia forums where people hacked the EDID of the 3 monitors to correctly get Nvidia 3d vision to work with 3 different timing monitors:

Was that quote from an SLI setup, because Nvidia has not supported 2D surround from a single GPU in the past?

I just looked it up, and the GTX 680 appears to be the first single GPU to support 2D surround: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-surround-system-requirements.html

But it does say this: "3D Vision LCDs - requires three DVI connectors" EDIT: this shouldn't apply for 2D surround.

2D surround says this: "Supports any three digital connectors"

that shouldnt affect it though should it!?

It will if they are different monitors even with the same resolution and size, they can be each slightly different. Otherwise the other fix that i know of is to create a custom resolution with each monitor set at the exact same resolution. Then you set those custom resolutions as single monitors by enabling them one at a time. Then enabling surround and seeing if that works.

Actually, You absolutely need to use 1 Display port out, one HDMI or DVI-D Out, and one DVI-A Outlet. This is due to the HDMI and DVI Sharing the same "Output connector ...???" It works the same with Crossfire on a single Card for AMD.

Beware : the 2 DVI-OUT you have are not identical, one is Digital, and one is Analogue. If you use the HDMI port, one of the 2 DVI might not work. In this case, try the other one.

SO, you may go like this.

Displayport-HDMI-DVIa
Displayport-DVId-DVIa
Displayport to Displayport v1.4 Switch : output 3 Display port (tho I Couldnt find those ... -_- )

Personally at home, I got 3 ASUS VE248Q 24in 1920X1080 2ms with Displayport.
got them on special at 210$ ea. : Great Buy !!!!

This way, I use 2 DP out on my HD6950 and one DVI out. Works Flawless.

Hi, I have a gtx 680 and 3 monitors (non 3D) but when i set them up in surround, i can only get a resolution of 4320x900... I should be able to get 5760x1080 as my monitors are 1920x1080 each, I have connected them using a DVI cable, a DVI to VGA cable and a Display Port to VGA cable, I also had them configured as a DVI cable, an HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI cable. Please help!!

If it helps, my monitors are, 2x Acer S273HL and a Acer B273H

PLEASE HELP ME

Thanks
Dan

Can Nvidia one Nvidia card drive 3 monitors? My understanding was that Nividia required 2 cards to drive 3 or more but that may have changed on the 6x series.

Also you should get rid of those VGA cables and go all digital. Those VGA cables are going to limit your resolution.

ok, but now when i press the span displays with surround button, It opens a window showing me the monitors and i click apply, and the window just disappears without enabling it... help please!!

When I create a custom resolution for the HDMI connections (It only gives me 1440x900 for PC so I create 1920x1080) I can't use surround, I click apply and then it just goes back to the control panel window, with an unticked checkbox for surround. WHY!?

Its really hard for me to advise you how to do it when its not in front of me if you know what I mean , go thru this helpful guide as I cant see whats exactly going on in your screen setting , follow all the steps exactly like they have to achieve it, start from scratch and I hope you are successful.
