5870, tom's too enthusiast?

I'll rapidly resume the conclusion.
Power consumption:
Idle: 27W Load: 180W
The 5870 is, in theory, 2.26 more powerful than the 4870, bandwidth 33% superior, bus 256bits and 1.5 to 2 times faster in game than the 4870 when the memory don't limit it.
New perspective: possibility to play on 3 to 6 monitors
And of course, DX11!

I plan to buy a new system(link) w/ a 920 and this card seem to be a nice option because I plan, in the future, to run in SLI/CF mode so when prices drop, I still can upgrade my system.

[Edit]: I heard that new card may come in october and I don't know if I should wait.

A lot of things can happen. AMD are in a strong position and can react to whatever nvidia do, or don't do.

I'm pretty sure we'll see a 2gb 4870 with 6-screen option in October. That may be worth waiting for, hard to say yet. The 4870x2 I'm sure will be released after nvidia release their g300, but again that's speculation more than fact.

According to actual x2 version, the price is higher for almost nothing. If they don't release new model I think I'll go with the 5870.

Now that brings the question to me whether Chris and Florian shared tests or was one a translation of the other or did Fedy do the tests and then Chris and Florian added their views and additional detail ?

Yeah, that's what I would think, it looked like his style, but it was weird that he wasn't given the by-line.

Somebody forgot to put his name in as co-author, same as somebody (probably) forgot to put a publication date on the tomshw.it article (since it's pub date was originally 0000/00/00 :lol which meant it went live immediately.
