I just got a 40g 60gxp drive. How do you determine if it's a 60gxp by looking at a bare drive? (i'm just curious about this) How do you set the jumper to run it as a master drive? Thanks!

Try this

<A HREF="http://www.storage.ibm.com/hardsoft/diskdrdl/desk/ds60gxp.htm
" target="_new">http://www.storage.ibm.com/hardsoft/diskdrdl/desk/ds60gxp.htm
</A>

Then go to the jumper settings page.

The HD should have a model number on it.

IC35L0**AVER07

The " ** " represents the size e.g. 20, 40 etc.

It should have a sticker on it with some info.

I would try the default and load up on boot/win startup disk and run a scandisk/chkdsk utility.

Then shutdown, change it to logical 15 and do the same again. See which is the best. I reckon the default will work, but the logical may give a different display of disk size.

Hmmm...let us know how you get on.
