Motherboard: Gigabyte x299 Aorus Designare Ex
RAM: Patriot Viper 16gb x4 3600 DDR4
BIOS will only recognize 32gb of total RAM instead of 64gb, even it recognizes each stick. Motherboard has 8 slots for memory, 4 on each side of Intel I9 10980xe (which can take up to 256gb RAM). I have the sticks in the correct slots. I double checked and triple checked this and changed slots just to make sure. The DRAM status in BIOS is listed as follows:
DDR4_1_1B: 16GB 2667MHZ
DDR4_3_2B: N/A
DDR4_2_1A: 16GB 2667MHZ
DDR4_4_2A: N/A
DDR4_4_2C: N/A
DDR4_2_1C: 16GB 2667MHZ
DDR4_3_2D: N/A
DDR4_1_1D: 16GB 2667MHZ
As I said, total RAM is only listed at 32gb. Memory frequency is listed at 3601.06MHZ. That's only issue I see is that total memory frequency is about 3600 (the frequency of the RAM I bought), but the frequency for each separate stick is only listed at 2667. Other than that, the BIOS recognizes each stick but not total.
Any suggestions? I'm not new to doing DIY builds, but I am not experienced either. I don't do it for a living 40 hours a week. I just do my own every 5 years or so when I want the latest and greatest. I am very reluctant to do a flash BIO upgrade. I've never done one and am worried about the potential problems that can cause if it's not necessary. I don't really think that's the issue.
Thanks for any suggestions.
