6870 Crossfire X?

I was looking at getting a second 6870 in addition to the one I already have before I can't buy the same one that I have now new. I currently have an XFX HD-687A-ZHFC.
My question is, should I bother to get a second to use it in crossfire mode? Here is my build:

Cooler Master HAF X
Asus m5a97
AMD Phenom II 1090t
8 GB of Corsair XMS 3 memory
500 GB Western Digital Caviar Black
Liteon iHAS324 DVD/CD burner
Logisys 12" Cold Cathodes
Corsair TX850M

I am aware that if I did crossfire the two cards I would only be running the one card in 4x mode but from what I understand is that I would only be loosing 2-5 FPS which is very minor. So would getting a second be worth the money?

no, dont bother, especially if you have a 4x slot. Its not just losing 2-5 fps, it causes serious stuttering more so than if you had 2 8x slots. Ive been there and done that with 6850's and am selling them to replace them with a 7870 or gtx660. I have sold one already and games are smooth again even with a single card, lower fps, but smooth. I suggest you sell it, and put all that money to a better single card. not to mention the newer cards have 2gb vram which will help in some newer titles.

Currently I only use 1 1080p monitor to game with so I don't even know if I need more than 1 gig of vram in the first place? I keep hearing mixed reviews on crossfire x that its good and bad for this card. hmmm.

crossfire is bad for all cards. and yes 1gb of vram is starting to be a limitation in some games, like bf3.
