After the 12.11 drivers, a 7970 GHz is about equal to a 590. However a 7970 GHz can OC far more. So really a 7970 GHz is stronger than a all dual cards except the 7990 and 690. Though in some games at super high resolutions the 7970 GHz comes very close to a 690.

Honestly i would take either or, but i think im goin to go with the 7970. The 690 is great, but im not spending 1000 on just one card. I could build a decent little system for that. I seen the 7990 and it looks potent but yet again 1000 dollars lol

the latest drivers didnt do much for most people. some saw a performance increase, others had it in reverse, as the new drivers decreased the maximum clock their card could go at when overclocked. Not many tech sites did a revamp on the new drivers as it was more of a marketing move against amd rather than an actual major performance boost.

example of MoH warfighter(frostbite 2 engine game) with 12.11 vs 310.33

though what nvidia still has is sli vs crossfire fps stability in general through more titles

more or less sources im refering to

Small example of what happened to people with the 310.33 drivers

Basically, the drivers benefitted people who used stock or slight overclocks, and hurt users who were benchers/heavy overclockers(the minority)

Wierd I'm still able to get 1280 mhz on my 680..and at those clocks I'm seeing 5-10% increases.

its more or less sporadic when it comes to performance gain for people. some people had to revert as it was unstable for them. It'll probably be better when it becomes official rather than beta.
