Monitor : 75hz Viewsonic VX2771-smhv-2 27inch Full HD IPS , no freesync support
Specs :
Ryzen 5 2600
Zotac Gtx 1070 ti
16gb dual channel xpg 3000mhz ram
b450m steel legend
Win 10 pro latest

Connection via hdmi cable, since my monitor only support hdmi or VGA.

So, my monitor is capable of 75hz refresh rate, but when i do refresh rate online test, it shows 60hz only.

Already go to display setting and max refresh rate to select s only 60hz. Nvidia control panel also max the refresh rate to 60hz only.
Resolution i use is 1920 X 1080. Already try to lower res , still no luck. 60hz only.
Does the 75hz only occur while gaming?
Is it because of faulty HDMI cable?
I have no idea. PLS help me thank you

Solution
is that the purpose of the display port?

Not entirely, using Gsync or Freesync would be a reason to use DP but not because of Hz. Back when Hdmi was predominately limited to 60Hz, DP or DVI were the go to connections. For a while now, manufacturer support for higher Hz over Hdmi has been increasing. Hdmi v1.3/1.4 is capable of 1080p 144Hz and v2 even higher.
