That's right I just picked up a 7950 3gb thinking it would see me run bf4 on ultra but no the fps on just high seem worse than the 7770? On shanghai the fps were around 20 when it got busy, with the 7770 it never really dropped below 30.

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong?

Solution
could be, try updating it with both dx11 and dx10 june2010 (some files in this are needed but dont ship with dx11 that ships with most games).
have you checked your driver status in system/device manager? it maybe you had a bad install or are missing something like.net framework4.51

I do now yes about 40-80fps, coz i always play online its difficult to see but it rarely drops below 45 with mantle.

I have the fps displayed, but difficult to read an average, min fps in direct x is 30-35 id say now, mantle 40-45 so I think shes performing as expected now, If we compare that to yours considering you're running in crossfire and have a FX8350? Thats at 1080p Ultra 4XAA in Win 7. Think I might invest in a copy of Win 8.1 at some point tho just to see if I get a few more fps.

I have a slight O/C on the gpu (975clock/1275mem clock, fans set to 80% to keep cool) but if I give it to much I get a slight coil whine.

I also have a good O/C on the cpu (FX6300) now to 4.5ghz, cool and stable as I bought a new case with 5 fans and better cable management so I've pushed it a tad more.

Anyway thanks for all the advise from you all, its defo helped.

I still get a tad bit of screen tear tho, I dont like the lag you get with vsync enabled so I capped the fps to 60 by making a user.cfg which hasnt really made any difference but of well, it still looks great.

I dont get the screen tearing but i use rivatuner to cap my fps at 60 dont know if it will make a difference. Also for online in options check your online smoothing and if it doesnt cause to many issues start lowering it. Will give better you lower latency if you are having animation problems turn it up and it will smooth it out.
