Rolf,
Thanks for the reply.
I didn't want to bore/confuse the issue with previous SCSI failings, but
since you asked, here goes:
Board #1: Intel D815EEA2 - ran fine except occaisionally on reboots it would
reassign the main boot device to IDE. Not being able to reboot was quite a
headache, and eventually intolerable. A later bios update said that
something about resolving SCSI or boot issues, but by this time it had been
pulled from this particular duty.
Board #2: MSI KT3 Ultra - There was a boot delay of approximately 1.5
minutes prior to the OS loading. Shuffling cards, disabling the RAID or 69
other tricks did nothing to help. There were quite a few posts about the
subject in this group (almost exactly 2 years ago), and no one. Once it
started there were no ill effects. Once again, after resolving the issue by
using an ASUS A7V33 (non-raid) a bios update addressing SCSI issues came
forth from MSI. I"ll never forget the MSI tech support representative
telling me that he was "surprised that it worked at all".
Idid not try either board again to see if the issues were resolved, and here
I'm just trying to save a little time before delving in. I'm also trying to
re-use some equipment and not buy more.
