Sorry about making a newbie post about "blahblah which should I buy" but it's not on the buyers guide, and I can't find any reviews of the aiw.

But assuming there are performance differences, can anyone inform me as to what they are?

No there aren't performance differences.

The R9800Pro has the same core/mem frequencies as the AIW R9800PRO.

The main differences are. 1DVI + 1VGA port on the R9800Pro, and then the whole media package (tv tuner, VIVO, etc.) of the AIW, which only has the DVI connector.

Unless you are planning on using ou Computer as a PVR/Multi-media center there is very little benifit to buying the AIw over the regular R9800Pro.

The R9600Pro is the oly recent/new AIW card that has a different frequency than it's normal countepart, and tha's a 20+mhz boost to the memory (320mhz vs the egular R9600P's 300mhz) so the AIW is 'better' at stock speeds in that case.

Both the AIWR9700Pro and the AIW R9800Pro have the same core/mem. as the 'normal' cards.

So go with the the cheaper (likely R980Pro) of the two unless the features of one or the other particularly speaks to your view of what this card will be used for.
