Some hard disk errors cannot be repaired. Test the drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic software to see if the drive has failed. If it has failed, nothing can be done.

if it's a boot drive, you'll need to make a bootable CD using the DOS version of the diagnostic software, then boot your PC from that CD.
