My friend and I have decided to attempt an experiment, at work we would like to be able to use our home networks instead of 3G on our phone's. So i would like some advice on the logistics and weather it is feasible/possible for this to work. I would like to acquire a 15DBI Omni-directional antenna and attach it to a repeater and relay the connection from home to the workplace which is roughly 2km away. So can this work?? If not how could i accomplish something like this? I would like to connect both his home network and mine both to the repeater and connect to our individual networks at work.

Be gentle with me i'm a noob :)

You can use two ubiquty anntenas http://www.ubnt.com/, and set them both to WDS access point. They have a range of 25 km and you can find them with $50 to $80 each. They will act both as AP and reapeter for your home network. You can connect you phones within this network, either at home or at work. They will act as one network.
