A7A266 and HD

I'm purchasing my new system as we speak. All retail parts except were notified. Anyway....I have 2 questions. One, I am using the ASUS A7A 266 mobo. I am getting 256 megs of PC2100. I have 64 megs of Cas 2 PC133 in a system I can most likely take to. Can I use both the DDR and the PC 133 RAM together on the board, since it has slots for both.

My other question, I have the system as barebones, so I get the case monitor and Ram already in (with retail packages empty). I also bought the IBM 75GXP for my HD... Now can I just hook it up to the Barebones, (have graphic card in) and just load the OS in...or do I need to partition or do something before hand. I've heard of HD'd running real slow without doing this beforehand. Just some advice, as I'm pretty new to the whole building comp or putting together a lot of the parts...I've actually only built one computer from scratch....was a Duron.

Okay - to answer a few points.

No, you cannot mix SDRAM and DDR at the same sime on a A7A133.

Yes, you need to partition your HD before install. Don't install the OS to a partition greater than 8GB. I'd look at taking a larger drive if you can afford it - say the 60 or 75GB. It may be more storage than you think you'll ever use - but it isn't that expensive and it is less hassle than upgrading in the future.

What is the case? If it is reallystock you may want to check the cooling sections about installing more airflow - also think about your HSF for the AMD. That puppy is going to be warm!
