Ive had my Q6600 at 3.0ghz for a week now with good temps and never failing a stability test. It never crashed or anything. When having dvd burner troubles I did a hard reset a few times, could the motherboard have been tricked by that thinking it was the CPUs fault? This is crazy because everything was working perfectly, but I dont want to risk going back to 3 if it was really dangerous for it.

Btw, my dad just got a dual opteron workstation. Not to bash amd but his two dual core opterons (4 cores) ran superpi 1 million calculations in 34 seconds, my Q6600 ran it in 16 :D

...or does superpi not use his second processor...

either way it doesnt matter everything is fast enough nowadays.

You may have overclocked the pci bus, causing read/write errors on the sata/ide channels.
Or it just needs a wee bit extra volts, and/or overvolting northbridge

The opteron config isn't comparable, ram speeds are slower and they contain error correction, as well as the two pairs having a large physical distance to each other. Ghz unspecified as well..
It's meant to be powerful, but also to never loose data or crash.
