Does anyone know if the Abit KG7-Raid is available for purchase yet? If so, where can it be bought and for how much? If not, do you know when it will be available? Thanks.

ETA <b>'early August'</b> (according to <b><A HREF="http://www.lynncomp.com/motherboard.htm" target="_new">1 of sites</A></b> that selling it)

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

Thanks...oh, I have a couple of other questions. Do you know if the Abit KG7-Raid is compatible with the Palomino when it comes out? Do you know of any sites that have some good information on the Palomino? (the only ones I find are *cough* garbage and outdated). Thanks again.

Btw...that is an American site I presumer, because if that was Canadian, I think I have been getting massively ripped off, lol.

ya i wrote www.atacom.com and they said maybe next week it'll be available. The KG7 SHOULD support the Athlon 4 since it is a DDR board using the 761 chipset. A simple BIOS flash would reslove it if it doesn't now. Write abit and find out and let us know. www.abit-usa.com.

Palimino.. how about amd's site? www.amd.com .. also do a search on www.google.com for Palimino, "athlon 4".

Good Luck!

My sig is better then your's!

I tried the www.google.com search, but came up with bs, but thanks anyway those are great suggestions.

im hoping it does support the palomino. it would b a huge shame if they brought out this board and u cant use it for future upgrades

Check out this link: <A HREF="http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/palomino/page3.asp" target="_new">Palomino Motherboard compatibility test</A> for a compatibility test that was done on current mobos. Interesting stuff.

Thanks for the help, but does a test of current mobos with the existing Athlon MP (Palomino) mean that those mobos will support the Athlon (Palomino) for Desktop? I was really looking for stuff on that processor, not any existing processors using the Palomino. Some sites say that the Palomino for desktop will still be using a 0.18 micron transisitor size, while I thought it would be 0.13. I am confised on wheteher the desktop Palomino will be a good processor or not, because the only thing that I know for sure about it is that it will require 20% less power, therefore putting out 20% less heat. Thanks for any help that you can give.

The Palomino is NOT .13 micron. We'll have to wait for the Thoroughbred for that.

The Palomino and Morgan cores are still manufactured using the 0.18 micron process but both now use the copper interconnect process out of Fab 30 in Dresden.

Whoever thinks up a good sig for me gets a prize

Of course there's no guarantee, but I would say with 99-44/100% certainty that the KG7/RAID series will be fully able to support Palomino.
