The monitor is connected via Dual Link DVI(that came with it) to my PC as it does not have display port. When checking the display advanced option i'm only given refresh rates of 60hz and below, same in nvidia control panel, and when selecting custom resulution and refresh rate it turns off and goes back to 60hz.

Solution
Try right clicking anywhere empty on your desktop, Choose "Screen resolution" then "advanced settings" then "adapter" tab, then click List all modes.
Will it then let you pick a higher refresh rate at your native resolution?
