Parse the make and model of both SSD's that your friend decided to purchase. As for your laptop, does the laptop have any BIOS updates pending? You can ask your friend to use the serial number for the laptop on Acer's support site to help bring up a support site bespoke to the laptop he's working with. You're also advised to change the settings in BIOS from Optane/RAID to AHCI or anything other than Optane.
He already fixed it by older question on this forum : https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/ssd-not-showing-on-boot-priority-but-in-storage-section.3579533/?fbclid=IwAR2lXKoOJ10g2PUKQb1nRHFvPy1SA984UYJBCKV-CgdV5NZV7vZeQw-fuv8#post-21611624
