Trying to fit that (What make and model) mobo into an Acer or a Gateway?
I fail to see how you can fit a Gateway into an Acer though....

If everything is the same, and while you were looking at the Mobo inside the Gateway and the Acer if they looked the same with an Identical layout. Yes, then they will be compatible.
But, sometimes the Mobo's are customs designed for specific Manufacturers, they usually just change the size of the CPU HSF or the Back I/O Panel layout. this is what you need to check, if they look identical. It's a go.
