Ok so my PC is in the top level of my house. The problem is, I game in the basement which has a horrible connection due to the main floor in between. I have an extra modem/router lying around, and I was wondering if I could plug it in, in the basement to give my xbox a wired connection without having to spend money on a wifi range extender. Would this work? I'm not the best with this sort of stuff so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt it. Most ISPs only allow a single IP address for a physical location. Your second router would require a second IP address. If it is a DSL connection, I think the two devices would conflict electrically on the same line also.

Okay thanks! Are there any cheap range extenders that you recommend?
