Adding an additional kit of memory (Corsair Dominator Platinum)

I currently have one kit of 2 x 8gb Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 - 3000 installed. I was given an additional identical kit by a friend. Now I understand that even though they both have the same branding both of these kits are fundamentally different (timings, compatibility, etc). However, this is high quality memory, and I could use an upgrade. Will adding this additional kit cause major issues?

the thing is in a nutshell you should have no issues because these ram sticks work in dual channels and both set are technically separated the timing is important between the two first pair and the two second pair, if they are both (sets) same model number you will be just fine

There are no guarantees when mixing packages of DRAM, even the same identical models. The forums are full of threads of people trying to add DRAM and failing, see my fiction article here at Toms, items 2 and 6
