I have Lenovo Ideapad 330-15IKB with Intel i3 2.20 GHZ processor and 4 GB DDR4 RAM with Windows 10. Lately my laptop is slow to boot and loading apps. I generally use laptop for browsing and video and studying. I was wondering if increasing ram will improve performance of laptop or should I go for SSD.

I wanted to avoid swapping HDD with SSD because my laptop supports SSD upto 256gb and I have more data on my HDD making it impossible for me to swap hard disk. I have SATA 2.5 inch 2 TB hard disk and I am using around 400 GB space.

To be honest, you should put your SSD as the main system disk.
I think you can buy or borrow an external HDD from your friend,
just to backup your data temporarily.
Or with just 50~60 bucks you can get 1TB HDD ext.

RAM is less likely to be a problem for a performance in a device with HDD as its system disk.
You won't get significant increase in performance with that, or even not at all.
I have a laptop from 2011 that comes with HDD, gradually get performance dropping.
And when I swap with SSD, its like a bliss.
