I have on SDD that had the OS on it and one HDD that all applications are installed on it. Also user folders such as Photos, Music, Documents and Downloads are moved and shortcuted to this HDD drive.
I have noticed all subfolders in the HDD drive are read only. I often have problem saving files in this drive or applicaionts cannot make changes to anything in this drive. I manually gave permission to app packages for specific software but still it shows read-only as the permisson.

Simply unticking the read only on chaning it in the security settings does not work.

Any idea how I can resolve this and let full access to user and applicaitons?

Thanks in advance.

All folders in Win 10 are read only, it doesn't matter if you try to change that, it will stay read only. Change it in folder area and close properties, reopen... read only is ticked again. You can't stop it.

It shouldn't matter though as you should have permissions in the folders you own to do whatever you like (within reason) in the folders.

What message do you get when you untick "Read Only"?

Or otherwise attempt to give manual permission.
So I get this message that says admin access is required, when I press continue, it starts applying the change to all folders and the window disappear indicating the changes is done. But when I check the folder again, the read-only is still ticked.

I used through the method showed in this video.

I guess this messed up the whole drive.
That is mostly correct, but NOT needed anymore except for the game things.

Music/Video/Pics/Docs....those Libraries don't really need to be redirected anymore. Just about every application will default to the last place you saved.
Doesn't have to be inside one of those specific Libs.

That seems to be correct, but why do I have problem editing files that are located in this drive. for example in my editor, I make changes on a HTML file that is located on this drive. the editor fails to save that file. Same thing with other applicaitons. If I manually transfer a file to this drive it always gives the message to check if i am an admin.

Are any of these folders from a previous install? its possible that even though you were the user in both cases, windows can tell it wasn't created by the same user number. It has problems dealing with folders from previous install as it knows the admin from that install didn't give access.

What happens if you make a folder on the drive and then try to use it for editing?
