Question All Gmail links failing

I seem to be having a strange Gmail problem. None of the links in my emails will connect to www.google,com. All email will open without problem and links in websites work fine, I simply cannot get outside of Gmail. Even Settings to HELP and REPORT a PROBLEM don't get out. I've tried both Opera and Firefox (I'm using Chrome) and have the same problem. My other home PC has no problem with Gmail. What sort of setting do I need to change, or is something else causing this? I would appreciate some help.

Thanks for your reply, rgd1101. All the email links fail as they never connect to www.google.com. For example, I couldn't click on the forum email link to post this response...I had to log on from Chrome. I have a screenshot but can't figure out how to attach it.

Use This All In One Tool to Diagnose and Repair PC Problems Link directs me to "feedproxy.google.com........................" FYI...another reader reply suggested I do a "winsock reset." This seems to have corrected my problem, though I don't have a clue what I actually did!

You installed something that hijacked winsock like MALWARE
