Question alternate of inbuilt CD/DVD drive

hey guys,
my CPU cabinet's inbuilt CD/DVD drive is not working. the computer store guy has told me that it cannot be repaired and i have to buy a new cabinet. Is there any alternative of such inbuilt drives. like, is there any external cd player to connect it with the pc with usb so that i can access the materials in the cd (movie or softwares) from my pc?

hi USAFRet, just want to get confirmed that these devices work just like normal usb drives and i can just plug and use them, because i have never used such devices.

Yes, they work just like an internal DVD drive, just that they are external, USB connected.
