Hi, I was wondering what the deal with this is, I know AM2+ was meant as a transitional socket between AM2 and AM3, is 1066 RAM the same?

I was just wondering since I was contemplating getting a motherboard, something similar to http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2690

Do you have to use an AM2+ processor to make use of 1066 RAM? Or can you use it with a regular AM2 processor at lower clock speeds and the like?

Thanks

1066mhz ram is only available on AM2+ socket CPUs with AM2+ motherboard. You can use any 1066mhz ram, on any other AMD AM2 AM2+ cpu/motherboard combo, it will just run at 800mhz.

Unless you already have the memory and CPU, I think you should go ahead and pick an AM3 board. It just opens up a bit more room, as new AMD processors will be for AM3 socket only.
