I want to just make sure that i have this right.
Am3 boards will be able to support am2 and am2+.
but will am2+ support Am3?
because i bougt my M3a32 Deluxe wifi because i was thinking it would. Am I right?

From what I have heard, AM3 boards will only work with AM3 processors.

AM2+ boards will work with AM3 (probably with a BIOS update), AM2+ (PII 920 & PII 940), and AM2 processors.

AM3 Mobo only supports AM3 CPU because AM2 CPU doesn't have DDR3 controller. Some AM2+ mobo supports AM3 CPU because AM3 CPU will have both DDR2 and DDR3 controller.

amd_overclocker you've got it backwards

AM2/AM2+ sockets will support upcoming AM3 processors because the processor has both a DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller. However AM3 sockets will not support older AM2+ processors because they are meant to run DDR3 which only new AM3 processors support. They even removed a pin from AM3 so that it would still plug into an AM2 motherboard but an AM2 processor won't plug into an AM3 board due to having 1 more pin than the AM3 socket. Of course AM2 boards will also require a BIOS update to run AM3 processors

Unfortunately I've seen rumor that newer AM3 processors won't work in the older AM2+ boards. I'm talking about the 6-12 core processors scheduled to release next year. Its all just rumor though, but if its true socket AM2+ doesn't really have any more life left in it than Intels socket 775.
