Hello,

I've come into possession of an AMD Radeon HD 6990 (which I intend to water-cool) and a FirePro V7900.

They both have a CrossFire bridge at the top, but the 7900 is listed on the website as supporting "CrossFirePro" (whatever that is) and the 6990 obviously supports Crossfire.

Is it possible to install both cards in one PC and get any kind of benefit (for gaming, mostly) from a Crossfire setup? AMD's website, with separate areas for the Radeon and FirePro lines, isn't very helpful...

Thank you!

It is not necessarily based on generation, it is entirely dependent on the GPU. As both cards use a 2BG caymen GPU (The 6990 has 2 of them obviously) it may just work. I agree with kdOfrg, try it out.

Even if they use the same GPU the BIOS is going to be quite different. I seriously doubt it would work.
As others have said selling it would be the best idea, assuming you don't actually have a need for a workstation card. They seem to be going for over $700 on ebay.
