Hello! I want to update my drivers for my AMD graphics card, but the install for the Adrenalin software gets stuck every time I run it. I've tried DDU, trying to boot it up in Safe Mode, and I've also tried to go back to an old restore point, yet nothing has worked. It can get stuck anywhere, it's gotten stuck at 78%, 71%, and 54%. It would leave my computer stuttering once I close it out and the only way to resolve it is to restart the computer. My drivers haven't been updated in a while because of this, and I really want to figure out what might be causing the issue.

Specs:
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5500
  • RX 6650 XT
  • 16 GB DDR4 RAM
  • ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II MOTHERBOARD

Thank you in advance!

Try msconfig to NOT load startup items.

Type "msconfig" (no quotes) into the windows search box
Click "Selective Startup"
Untick "Load Startup Items"
Click "Apply" then "OK"
Then restart the computer and try to install

I tried, the install got stuck at 91% and 0:59 time remaining.

EDIT: It seems like I have a version of Adrenalin installed, but it's missing files. I can't uninstall it or reinstall it to install the missing files.

1. First try AMD Cleanup Utility

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-601.html

2. Alternative if the utility doesn't work, you can find out what damaged version you have installed and can download that exact version, it might install over the top. Or even an earlier version of it. The latest version may be stopping the install.

3. Or, if the uninstaller is missing and possibly other files, you may need to find its folders in file explorer and delete them. e.g. Program Files (x86), Program Files, Program Data (this folder is normally hidden), also check in (appdata - both local & roaming folders.)

4. Once all old data is deleted, reboot and try a new install.
