It is okay to skip "Factory reset" option during the installation process, if your previous driver settings were perfectly working fine before. No issues. It is not a compulsion, but a reset is done in most case where you want the driver and the game/video settings to restore back to their default values.
The Factory Reset option allows the user to quickly restore Radeon Software back to default values and settings.
It removes all prior versions of AMD Radeon Software and drivers. You will not be able to rollback to previously installed drivers. During the installation process, your display may flicker intermittently. This is normal and expected behavior while changes are taking effect.
But if you’re suffering from software bugs or other problems with your graphics card, one of the first things to try is performing a clean installation of your drivers. You can also use the
DDU tool for this purpose.
Performing a clean install starts over from scratch, potentially eradicating conflicts that can manifest as bugs or performance issues. Make a note that performing a clean install won’t fix GPU issues
all the time, but it’ll sure fix them a
lot of the time.
If everything was working fine before the new installation, and GPU was functioning properly, then you can easily skip the Factory Reset option.
