Bought a amdxp2000+ with a ECS k7s5a motherboard. I have 256 ddr installed... System registers as a 1250 mhz.
went to change PnP from 100 to 133... registers as xp2000 but system halts in windows... How do I fix?

What brand & output of PSU have you?

SO your system hangs at boot correct?...The first thing I would do is to flash the latest bios (which I do every time I buy a new motherboard)....then boot up and load default settings....after loading defaults change the fsb to 133 from 100...leave multiplier to auto if that setting is available....

That's the last thing I would do until I'd worked out that it may be the hardware.

It's almost always a problem with instable memory or power with these boards. So tell us what both are.

well being that it booted fine when he said it was at 1250 led me to believe that his hardware was fine....i was thinking maybe he set something wrong in the bios making it not boot....thats why i said to load defaults...and also I didnt know his computer experience when I said to flash the bios which can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing but its a good thing to have the latest and greatest especially when it comes to this problematic motherboard...and of course like camieabz FIRST check your hardware by removing everything not essiental to boot the computer (ie.. soundcard, modem, etc) before you do this....check all your bases before you go replacing hardware and wasting money

This particular CPU mobo combo always needs a decent PSU and RAM though. Eliminate both those issues and I'm listening. The fact that the mobo won't get past 'x' FSB is usually an indication of too much power draw on a 'lesser' PSU. Low quality RAM may become more unstable at higher FSBs, so it's recommended to use brand name RAM in these combos.

For example, I used 400W PSUs and Crucial CAS 2 RAM for these combos, and I've never experienced a problem as this one as yet...(touch wood)
