AMD Expected to Launch DX11 GPU on Sept. 10

Held out on a new pair of graphics cards when i built my i7 system because it was obvious that there was something coming soon.
Glad I waited, my 8800GT's are about to be retired.

But do you think ATI will skip the 40nm and pull a 32nm or 28nm rabbit out of their hat on this one?

90+ % of cards out there are still DX 9 so don't worry about being shut out unless it is MS doing it. They lost many sales when Millennium II aka Vista was released when they pulled their little DX10 stunt. Paid off publishers and produced several titles that would only work on Vista to try and strong arm us PC gamers into buying their bloatware OS. That did not last long. MS is now working hard to make every game require the piece of shit called Games for Windows Live GFWL. I have only a few words to say to MS about their GFWL service, F*ck you MS.

I really love when new graphic card generations come out.. regardless of who it is (Nvidia or AMD). All the hype, the fresh benchmarks and stories on all the tech sites, its fun to read up on how much better they perform from last generation.

Throw in a DX change and it gets even better!

Unfortunately I will be watching from the sidelines once again... putting one of these in my two year old system would be a waste. I have a HD4850 now and to tell the truth it is the most powerful thing in my system. I can still run today's games on good settings though.. so it looks like I wont be in the "buying camp" until this current system has run its course.

Still... I cant wait to see those benchmarks !

Hmm.... well I am glad to see some new GPUs out there, but what I'm thinking about the heat they put out.

Technically, a smaller die means less heat. BUT, the 4xxx series was hotter than the 3xxx series. The 3xxx series was massively underpowered, sure, but will ATI once again pile on the watts with the new cards?

Finally, i've been waiting to DX11 and OpenCl support.
I can replace those power hungry noisy GTX285. I'm never buying geforce again.
Hopefully the Fusion software will be updated.

Sooo... now we need to upgrade to DX11....hmmm... well at least all those old DX10 games will go on sale.. all 5 of them.
Can't wait for that... hell.. when are they going to start using MMX?

... and then nvidia will come out with a 35nm series of DX11 cards a couple months later, with their lowest-end model beating out all but the most expensive ATI... er, AMD, whatever... model, and i'll be kicking myself for not just waiting around a bit longer for it.

And, around that time, there will be speculation of a 4x35nm GPUs card being in the works.

i swear, GPU upgrades will be the end of me, financially...

I owned the 1st gen of DX10 hardware & I also owned one of the latest of the DX10 hardware.....& to be honest...I dont think that Crysis runs "well" on any platform. My point is that you cant blame DX10 on the crappy framerates in Crysis. I ran Turning Point Fall of Liberty & Bioshock fine on an 8600 gts 512...so to say that a DX11 title wont be worth it because early DX10 hardware couldt run Crysis well isnt fair.

i have a budget of Rs 21,000.... will i be able to buy a new DX11 GPU with a new PSU which is needed to run this GPU..... i already own a P2 X4 940be

When will these card actually hit the shops? On the 10th? I'm guessing it will be a bit later than that. Then when will the price of the 48xx drop?

they probably will stop making the 4xxx series very soon..because they dnt want to lose money when earning lots from dx11 cards
