To prove a point.

Hahhahhah you like paying 800 for a I5 CPU? Or 1000$ for a GTX760?
Because that is what happens when competition does not exist. Open your eyes.

Besides AMD is perfectly up to scratch in the GPU market.
Yes, Intel is ahead in the CPU IPC race. But so what? Its not "lightyears" as you put it...

Stop being a fanboy and THINK for a second.
I own both sides of the coin, and to be perfectly honest, the difference between my gaming experience on the 6350 and HD7950s is extremely similar to my experience on my I5 3570K and HD7950s.

Major places that I feel it are multiplayer Guild wars 2 and Battlefield.
Other than those 2 the differences are negligable.

why every AMD vs Intel talking end up someone being retarded?

Anyway, before I was getting a CPU I was researching. Between I7 4770k and FX 6300 there is around 20% difference( at gaming). That is not much compared to the price. Of course if you are need power for video editing or other task, then you should go to high end Intels (about FX 8 series for working, I have no information), but then we are talking about a computer that is a workstation, to earn money and they are expensive all the time.

Back to the topic ( we went "kinda"off)... You can sue a company because they were not right? I mean the reason why they were lost shares is not because they wanted to, but they were not earning as much money as they could...
Business is strange

I would really like to build my next pc with an AMD Kaveri apu. I think that from cpu side they are good enough to run all my applications. Just waiting to see what will happen with Mantle. Since nowdays without Mantle they can achieve +30fps then with Mantle it can really rock! And since many 3d engines are giving support to Mantle it looks like a promising future. And for 95watts?! it's a bargain to use as gaming pc under my tv.

... but... it could make a precedent, to sue big giants, that caused the big financial meltdown...
I'm sorry but I gotta correct you bud, I've worked in the FI industry for a decade now. The financial meltdown was caused by deregulation starting with Reagan continuing thru Clinton and eventually ending with (often predatory) subprime mortgage lending and massive purchases of toxic MBS's and CMO's. When the subprime loans ballooned, those borrowers could not afford their payment and all those loans went bad. What do you think happens to the hundreds of billions, likely trillions, of dollars invested into the MBS's and CMO's backed by those same loans? *poof*

the stock market = legalized name for gambling/stealing and the SEC = NSA/CIA for the IRSthis is a fishing expedition probably paid for by intel thru one of it's subsidiaries as some one else said since Intel knows AMD is strapped for cash ever since buying ATI and wasting the bulk of their development power and cash flow on a much smaller market in the graphics sector ( i blame every ATI exec for that).AMD's cpu problem should have been fixed years ago by figuring out their memory bus and finding a way to double it's speed which would have destroyed Intel, just like AMD did with P3's and P4's. AMD should concentrate desktop and mobile FSB development to 3200mhz by the end of 2014.however AMD did see the writing on the wall with how mobile phones have sky rocketed past PC sales and APU is the way to go. i blame ATI execs again for interfering with implementation and marketing as most of AMD's efforts are being wasted on their GPU division. cell phones have a 4" screen and a more than capable apu to do the graphics, there is no need for a 7750 GPU on a cell phone that has what 5 pixels? at best, that's over kill to the point of such an analogy as " vice president joe biden devoting all of america's anti air craft guns to go duck hunting for a featherless baby duck to avoid shooting one of his friends in the face with a gun he can't control." mobile is the place to be, who ever is at the head of the line with the best product when the door opens is poised for first shot and both AMD and intel were beaten to that. AMD is just second inline waiting to take over as soon as they are given the chance by mobile device makers. Apple wants less power drain than what AMD has to offer. cell phones need to become watch size and water proof and run on 1.5v batteries the size of a coin for over a week. beyond that tablets are in position to take over the book/magazine/newspaper/television sector as well as replace desktops in main stream personal computing.desktops will be for the power users who need that 1.21gigawatts to do great things with. calling your mom, watching a movie or tv show at 720p on a 5p screen has been viable since P3's launched and only required 500mhz. the only problem back in 2000 was that they required idr 2v @ 20-35watts? and were 4 times the size of sd cards at the very least.

How to make money in the stock market in two easy steps:A) Buy stock in any companyB) Sue said company because the stock isn't performing well and they mislead you, regardless of what actually happened or if you made money on the stockSeriously, investors that sue over a company loosing money need to be quartered for their stupidity

These suits have been created to MANIIPULATE the stock of AMD.IF AMD had been fraudulent in how they communicated info, the suits would have been filed AT the TIME of the ACTUAL DISAPPOINTMENTS which range from 14 MONTHS AGO to 26 MONTHS AGO!WHY did these CRIMINAL ATTORNEYS NOT FILE SUITS BACK THEN?These suits are being INSTIGATED by SHORT SELLERS, who are trying to discredit AMD, because they are DESPERATELY trying to COVER/BUY shares NOW.The TIMING of these suits is the dead giveaway that they are FALLACIOUS, and smack of MALICIOUS prosecution. The filing firm Robbins Geller behavior in a number of other similar situations has been described by a top Judge as RECIDIVISM!The REAL CRIMINALS are Robbins Geller, and the other PARASITES who are advertising for a lead plaintiff.

Allso all computer companies are a little bit down at this moment, so it is not big surprise that AMD didn't achive what they hoped for... AMD did deliver CPU:s. I am not sure how this case could ever succes in the court. It would be different if they did some shady things, but not in this case. The customers just wanted to have something else this time...

And thats why investors are just garbage. They should not be able to sue just because someones products are not doing well. They should just do research themselves and do some actual work.

Turns out that this is the same firm that filed the suit against EA, funny that in both cases there are only one or two defendants who jumped on board, must be the lawyers. Interestingly neither case started with a "lead plaintiff", so it seriously looks like they filed the suit as a fishing expedition and then when looking for someone to agree with them.

They claim to have filed a "class action lawsuit".... I'm curious how they managed to circumvent due process.... Based on the "source" for this article, no judge has awarded this suit "class-action status".... You can't just simply walk into a court house and file a class-action lawsuit. There are requirements that have to be met and "class-action status" has to be granted by a judge.Babak Hatamian, the first listed Plantiff, works for Logitech....

The Securities Exchange Act is beginning to sound ridiculous. Not only was it drafted way back when everyone was still knee-deep in the dung known as the Great Depression, recent cases involving it have been really questionable. What the hell are these investors doing anyway? Do they really follow tech news? Are they any better than the average, computer-illiterate Joe?The language used in the suit is clearly not very well thought-out: basically, "The product didn't live up to expectations, we're suing you for a lot of money so that you'll have even less money to make your next product good". I mean, what the hell? I'm no lawyer, but it's blatantly obvious that this is no better than patent trolling. EA and DICE launch their biggest game yet, and aside from being banned in China (understandable), they get slapped with a huge lawsuit. Same thing is happening here: AMD is getting trodden on just when they thought the Llano and Bulldozer nightmare was over.

One thing to do BEFORE investing in a stock is to do your due diligence! I hope that AMD wins though, as I want to see them better compete with Intel's high end CPU's in the future and financial issues aren't going to help the company.

I wouldn't say that AMD is just plain bad. For the price, anyone looking to get into computers can hardly go wrong with AMD.

But these APUs simply aren't up to the task, if you're looking to get heavily involved with work or heavy gaming. They're more for low budget web surfing or playing farmville and angry birds. You can do better than an APU right now. Go grab yourself an old Phenom and a low range card, that will at least hold you until you're ready for something better.

Now, why the investors crying about being lied to, when they surely had to of known that APUs under AMD are still budding technology, I say they cheated themselves in this respect. That's the price of gambling on unproven technology. They should just bite the bullet and call it a loss.

I love AMD and would like them to be strong again, particularly in x86-64 CPU market and very low power usage.

But this lawsuit does appear to make sense, AMD is sadly known for over-hyping and over-promising particularly us buyers.

Just want to also say, why does kaveri appear to be a step backwards - the cpu performance is actually worse than the previous gen!? 🙁

Because the CPU architecture has moved to AMDs newer stuff. if you remember correctly the Buldozer and Piledriver CPUs are all weaker per core at the same speed than the Phenom 2s.
So now that they are not using those older CPU cores anymore, the CPU strength suffers a bit.
Not really much though.
Also remember than now the Quad core APUs are 2 module, 4 core designs and NOT pure 4 or pure dual cores as they were with the previous APUs.

Well if anyone did bother to trawl through the legal jargon then they might have noticed that there are three people who shall be referred to as the individual defendants (PDF wording not mine) and if the evidence against them is strong enough then your doubts won't matter.

... Mainly because APUs are not made for serious gaming. On the other hand APU use much less power that old Phenom and a GPU. And it can run farmwille and everything else that normal people are going to do with a computer! The problem is that normal people can do everything they need with a tablet like iPad...
Gamers are better to go in the high end to Intel for CPU and AMD/Nvidia for GPU and in the middle range AMD or Intel cpu with middle range AMD/Nvidia GPU. The only thing is that about 1-2% of PC users are gamers that need a sepatere GPU, the rest of the world need a little bit less power in their systems. For them a good APU is quite perfect solution, but as I allready said, so is allso a tablet computer...

Allso they moved to technology that allows smaller die footprint, but allso weaker speed. So they can put more silicon to the same space with less clock speed. It is a trade of that allown AMD to make single core speed better related to older silicon based High metal gate used in previous generation. It allso eats less electricity and is cheaper to build (if I am not wrong, because it is the bulk production technology vs more expensive silicon based..)
Ones again the GPU part is guite much better than in previous generation. I just hope that they can provide real 4 cores (8 buldoser cores) when they next time reduce the production node. It would allow the CPU part much needed speed, but mostly AMD need programs that support their HMA/HSA technology... And that may be a problem.

Marketing affects (some) people's decisions. Overhyping is just wrong and should be punished. On the other hand, a professionals should be able to do their own research and not rely on marketing...

Until about 2011, AMD's Computing Division reported more income than their Graphics Division (mostly losses). Since then, it is the other way around (the console deal being an exception). Seems like the ATI acquisition saved their behinds.

SiS and VIA started making IGPs in 2004, Intel in 2009 and AMD in 2011.

But what if your research involved speaking to the people who run the company and those people just lie through their teeth and withhold information that they have in their possession at the time you asked?
