My RIG and Temperatures are around at present,
CPU:- AMD FX - 8350 VISHERA 32nm tech 59 C
MOTHERBOARD:- GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY GA-78LMT-USB3 (SOCKET M2) 46 C
GRAPHICS :- GIGABYTE NVIDIA GTX 750 TI 38 C
STORAGE :- SEAGATE ST500DM002-1BD142 ATA DEVICE 40 C
RAM:- Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance 4GB Single Module DDR3
PSU:- Frontech JIL-2423 600W

shutdowns when i started battlefield 3 and i didn't try any other games till now with my new graphics this was my first game and my rig is as i mentioned above

Solution
Even though it's 4+1, that motherboard generally does not have known issues with FX-8 CPUs, unless overclocked. I still say it's the PSU. Look at that +12V in HW monitor. It's freaking 9.7v. It's a miracle the PC is on at all. All that, while the CPU temperature is quite normal in that screen.

Aside from that, overheating when using Prime95 is normal on stock cooling.
Again, change the PSU. Whether it's the problem or not, you do not want to run a system on an unreliable cheap PSU for extended periods of time. It's in your own interest.
The yellow epoxy covering caps is normal.
The string coming off is just a sign of a rushed application

Is it 100% normal - no
Is it 100% abnormal - no
Is it a cause for concern - no not really ,its non conductive ,it will have set hard as nails by now.

If id bought it from a shop around the corner id maybe take it back for the sake of it.

If you've bought it off the internet ,don't bother - its not going to create any problems

100% certain there will be no problem - that epoxy is put on with a heatgun - all that's happened is they've up pulled the heatgun off while its setting & a string has formed - they should have snapped it off before putting the casing together really but its honestly not going to cause any trouble at - even if it snaps off its not going to go anywhere.

thanx mate bt i am worried of the temperatures again while playng battlefield 3 i opened the amd over drive as i have seen in cpu status the temperature went to - 3 den i immediately shutdown the computer i dont knw y the is heck is happening to me dis all started only wen i installed gtx 750 ti and is there any fault in my pc ..???

You have issues with cooling mate - with the case side on that system is going to cook itself in all honesty.

You have no case fans whatsoever ,the PSU is acting as an exhaust but its not really enough on its own.

Have you tested with the case side off & if all possible a room or desk fan blowing directly at the inside from a foot or so away?

I'm assuming India has high ambient temps (30c or so)??

The stock amd cooler is good for maybe 40c over ambient/room temps absolute max while under load & that's with decent case cooling etc.

Not really going to matter mate - higher up= less chance of dust with the case side off though IMO.

Honestly ,if youd asked for advice regarding putting this build together & Id seen the thread I would have pushed you towards the fx 6300 with an aftermarket cooler & a couple of case fans - this combination would likely have cost less than the 8350 on its own.you may even have squeezed another 4gb ram in under budget.

You have what you have now though mate & have to make the best of it.

I'm going to suggest ,as I have to others in the past (although for different reasons) that you drop in bios, disable the turbocore function & also down clock the CPU to 3.5ghz or so,& if absolutely necessary disable 2 cores.

You'll lose a bit of performance - it won't be noticeable really - you should drop temps & gain some stability - it seems extreme but ultimately if it stabilises your system its worth it.

In the coming months if you can get dome money together for a cooler & some case fans (approx 2000-2500rs) then you can look at running your CPU at full spec again.

If this sounds of interest let me know & I will walk you through the bios settings required .

Fair enough mate but its your best option to stop the PC shutting down while gaming.

Thermal margin idle - not massively relevant but generally 25-30c on a stock cooler.

Under load - obviously above 0c - minus numbers are very bad & dangerous for the health of the CPU .
Id want minimum of 5c but would he happier with 10c really.

den i think had no problem now becoz changed the place of the cpu and as u sd on idle its around max 50 and on load +2 bt nt minus and i will buy a fan and fix it to the backside of the case i mean inside which we can mount to the cpu as u can see in the pic

hmm den i will reapply the coolermaster thermal paste which my frnd has it will check it out and can u confirm me tat my motherboard is gud and i think its gud bcoz i am using it from past 1 1/2 years with fx 8350 der was no problem wen i installed the gpu aftr 2 days the problem has been started with psu den i neglected bt i got one as recommended bt even though its same as before i am really tensed... -_-

Harish - the motherboard is fine mate - its a solid little number.

Your problem may be partly down to bad heatsink paste application but I've said before - under a full load a stock amd heatsink can only manage around 40c over ambient temps when the CPU is loaded.

With a room temp of 30c you are always going to be touching that 70c danger threshold best case scenario.

Your voltage on that chip is fairly decent ,I dont think you have the headroom to drop any volts & maintain 8 cores and/or full clockspeeds.

I'll drop the info regarding doing this later on the thread - its up to you whether you want to try it out or not mate - I'll say now that 8 or even 6 cores at 3.8ghz will drop you 10c off the temps & you're not really going to notice a massive performance drop at all with a 750ti.

When you can drop some money on a decent cooler (& I'm going to recommend the deepcool gammaxx s40 because its cheap & decent - under 2000rs) you'll be able to set your CPU back to default.

yeah i would like to do it and will be buying within 2 weeks
