arghh!
I had my PHII x 4 925 C2 non-BE 2.8 @ 3.6ghz
will boot into windows and desktop fine
will run light duty apps
but will not pass Prime95 darn it
I backed off and went back to 3.4
3.5ghz is stable but I hit a thermal envelope (goes over 60c in Prime95)
not too shabbly for a non BE C2 Deneb I guess but still 3.6ghz would be sweet

Phenom II x 4 925 C2 Deneb stock 2.8 OCd to 3.5ghz
stable on one pass of Prime95-64bit
max temp in 69f room is 62c (need to work more on cooling)
settings on Asus M4A77TD mobo
are
250 x 14
1.52v
2250 NB
2250 HTT
NB 1.16v
HTT 1.20v (?) not 100 percent darn old man memory
ram 1333 9-9-9-24 1.5v stock (Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3-1600 CL9)
CnQ and C1E disabled
ACC auto
all other settings auto

Disable ACC but keep in mind that you CPU is a C2 revision, usually those 1st series don't overclock very well and need a lot of voltage to be stable.

Set RAM at 1.65V on BIOS, change HT to something below 2000MHz and set NB voltage to 1.3V.

What temps are you getting?

at 1600 the ram is 1.65 but I have it at 1333 which calls for 1.5v?
I tried running at stock 1600mhz settings 9-9-9-27 1T and 2T 1.65 but kept crashing
so I set it for 1333 9-9-9-24 auto volts
I will try 1333 1.65v 9-9-9-24 1T
I will go to 1800mh on HT
and change NB to match
I know that HTT cant be higher than NB
temps with ten minutes of Prime95 are 62c max (too hot)
I just ran Handbrake on a 200mb m4v transcode to h264/mkv and hit 55c
69F room

what do you think is the highest CPU volts is okay for Deneb
I kept reading 1.55v
is that true?

look up your DDR3 on manafacturers website to fine voltage specs
usually your mobo will let you know waht your nb volts are close to max in the BIOS
vcore of Thuban you would look up in AMD data spec sheet for your model number
but usually that is conservative-I googled and searched toms for "overclocking deneb"
just google or search Toms for "overclocking thuban" and usually an article will tell you what kind of voltage is safe

if your talking HTT frequency then that can never be higher NB frequency from all my reading

"As you can see its just as simple as the CPU core speed calculation. One thing you should notice right away is that the CPU-NB and the HTT are using the same multipliers at stock settings. Remember they have their own separate multiplier but they do in fact run at the same speeds at stock. One thing to note and always remember is that the HTT can never go higher than the CPU-NB speed. The speed of your CPU-NB is the max speed of your HTT.'

if you were referring to something else than my apologies
this is said with all respect

i got it to boot into desktop fine with 3.6 but no go on P95
oh well 3.5 isnt bad for a PHII Deneb 2.8 C2 I guess
700mhz OC stable with max temp at 62c
I need to get better cooling though
I run a Hyper 101a with dual 80mm fans in push pull into a Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm rear exhaust (darn Kaze is amazing though I added a PCI slot fan control to quiet that bad boy down)
I also have an Antec Tricool 3spd Blue LED side intake over Hyper 101a

I went for the 101a since it was cheap ($15 at Microcenter)
will eventually upgrade to maybe a Hyper 212+ but financially things are difficult
(wife medical problems)

I am thinking of changing the 80mms on the Hyper101a to higher performing
80mms

@saint19 any suggestions on 80mm fans
the highest I could find was 34cfm in my price range
they have 60CFM Tornados but at $20 a piece that makes no sense
I found Masscool 80mms at 32cfm for $4
also Antec 80mms at 34cfm for $7

right now using good OEM 80mms (delta and hobby master)
but thinking an aftermarket 80mm might be better

I need CHANGE to get a new cooler LOL
I was thinking Hyper 212+ but I really dont want to have to pull mobo right now
any good recommendations on coolers that just latch on to AMD clip and dont need backplate?

The Hyper 101a is pretty decent for a $15 cooler with the second 80mm in push pull
I think with some high flow 80mms on there it would be decent

I am thinking of trying the side intake over CPU HSF as an exhaust instead of intake
not sure if it will help
any ideas?

Yeah the TX3 is decent check this older machine out with it installed on a X4 940:

thank you!!!
I can return my 101a and pay the difference for this one
only 21.99 at Microcenter
Sweet
will also pick up a cheap 92mm to make a push pull
thanks again gentlemen
I just got to wait for saturday darn it LOL :)

scored a little side job this morning and made enough play money to go trade my Hyper 101a for a TX3
about a 6 dollar difference
also will get a second 92mm to add in push pull
just got to use some paper clips to rig a fan clip

that is a hard question to answer
I would think maybe your GPU might get a bandwidth increase
but on a pcie 2.0 bus it isnt really needed unless a very high end card
possibly causing some stability issues too
I personally wouldnt push the PCI bus that hard
I bump mine from 100 to 110 when OCing
