Not only is the 9350e a extremely low clocked quad, but its not even in the same league as say a Q6600 or a 45nm Intel dual. Whats the babble about it being so smooth?

Not only that but your link dosent even have the 9350e in it, its for the 8750 X3 which is a better chip period.

Also, as said by jimmy, its not 1900x1600, its 1900x1200 or 2560x1600

Whats going on here? Im lost on this thread now.

well i look at lowest FPS, b4 i buy a card, why buy a card that has a average FPS 102 but the lowest is 2, and i know were not talking about cards but its still the same

^But most of the time you will usually get the average more than the low or high. Those are normally random times. Like how some games, Crysis for example, I can get a spurt up to 60+FPS. But my average, normally 35FPS, and what I see more than anything is the average.

I see the min more than anything. I don't care if the average is 40 if it drops down to 15 every minute, all I really want is consistently above 30, even if it only averages 31, if it never drops under, I never notice.

Generally, though, averages are pretty representative. The higher the average, (generally) the less likely the fps will drop under 30/45/60/whatever your threshold.

The sites that dont include minimums are the sites thats ripping us off of the most important numbers IMHO. Anyone who games , plays their game, loving every second of it, and then it all comes down at once, many AI baddies all at once, explosions all around, effects left and right, and youre faced with a slide show? No thanks.

Hmm, I wondered about that myself. But I had a Dell XPS laptop with a 17" monitor that did 1920 x 1600, that is until my daughter broke it and now it has a 1280 x 960 screen :). I also have a Dell 27" monitor but it is indeed 1920 x 1200. I'm not aware of any standalone monitors with that sort of resolution, but then I haven't looked for any.

1900X1600 is a square monitor though it's usually 1920X1620 (i think) for a 4:3 res vs a 1920X1200 which is a 16x10 res same as how 1920x1080 is 16x9 these would be older monitors. Or perhaps everyone forgot the old school resolutions? remember 1600x1200, etc?

i am not the one making the claim. the ones who are claiming this to be true (you and this other guy) hold the burden of proof. the q6600 (yes the end of life q6600) seems to be the measuring stick for success for AMD quads. i dont buy into the negativity that the Phenoms were as bad as they got the rap for but i also know what they aren't.

I thought it was usually 1600x1200 and 2048x1536?

I don't recall any 1920x1620...

I just doublechecked the old screen (which the repair shop returned to me) and yes it's WUXGA or 1920 x 1200, not x 1600 as I had thought. Dunno where that idea came from :). Anyway to be honest that resolution was wasted on a 17" screen for almost anything I did - gaming or otherwise. The main reason I went for it was the lack of antiglare coating which made the colors really pop, although reflections were a nuisance. 16 x 10 aspect ratio as well, so standard 16 x 9 widescreen movies play back with a little bit of letterboxing.

Even though chances of someone having a older monitor like that these days is pretty rare. I haven't seen one in a while and now its hard to not even find a wide screen.

I used to hate widescreen till I saw how movies looked better in it. Now I hate 4:3 the most....

well now that it's almost monday we have less than a week before the launch. So this is the week of truth for AMD. It either makes it or breaks it. Let's hope it's a make.

Well, Im still holding on my 2-3% better than Kentsfield, clock for clock overall. Still need power usage numbers tho, and more than 1 bench site. Getting close now, and I too hope so, we need it, AMD needs it, and to a degree even Intel needs it

^ Hope you're watching it on wide-screen HD :).

That's another advantage of that Dell XPS - I could stream full episodes of Lost in HD from ABC.com while locked in the bathroom, away from the wife & kids. Most pissful - I mean peaceful - room in the house :)

Makes it or breaks it? I think it will do neither. It will be business as usual. Why am I not surprised this stuff gets all hyped up.

Even if AMD is still behind....who cares. I have used their chips since my K6 running on a shuttle super 7 mb and they have never let me down in the price vs performance arena.

Yes they were in front at one time and have fallen back to 2nd place. But hell what is wrong with second place? If you look at the AMD VS Intell it certainly is a David VS Goliath battle. For all the f-ups and mistakes that AMD has made along the way I am some times surprised they are still here.

All AMD has to do is stay at Intells heels and continue to offer a competitive price. The economy will probably bounce back.....err.....hopefully by 2010.

I certainly have high hopes for the Phenom II but I will wait and see all the evidence before passing judgment.

well my expectations wont be unrealistic for it. i want it to run with and trade punches with the Yorkies, low thermals and overclocking headroom.

Well I was just offering a possible explaination if it wasn't a typo.

I know you weren't claiming it and were talking about what someone else was saying thus I started another semi-paragraph to kinda start a new line of thought.

Broken, I just spend 2 and half hours looking for book2 page 1. LOL
