Hello,
i found out that my cpu is running at 800mhz per core and isn't at he 3.5ghz its supposed to be at, any help? yes cool n quiet is enabled and the bios are left in default setting, however the clock speed does not increase when I am for example gaming or running a virus scan.

If C and Q and C1E are both enabled than your system will only get the juice when it needs it, run a stress test like Prime 95 and then check if you have Hardware monitor you can see if the cpu is getting the proper wattage during the test.

I had the same problem with a friend's pc, his CPU would stay at 800Mhz even while running prime95, BIOS settings were fine, set Cool n' Quiet to off, eventually I found out that the day before he was toying around with this ASUS AMD utility to "fine-tune" and set his CPU to low profile or something like that, I put it back to auto and problem solved.

I've tried prime95 with no luck the clock just doesn't scale up.

It's a ASRock N68-GE3 UCC.

It's a ASRock N68-GE3 UCC.

THAT would be your problem. The 970 BE is a 125W TDP CPU and that board only supports up to 95W TDP CPU's.

I've seen this problem here before a few times, actually, when a motherboard won't support the TDP of the CPU, it just runs at minimum speed. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do but get a new motherboard.

Also, just to show you, no 970 on the supported CPU's list for that board. http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68-GE3%20UCC/?cat=CPU

I too am having the same problem, but with the ASUS M4A78T-E. Anybody have a link to supported CPU'S for this mobo....?

yes, urs does, cool and quiet is there for low cpu use situations, like web browsing, when more is needed the speed increases back to stock. I used it for a while but realized that i like full speed all the time better.
