We have had several requests for a sticky on AMD's yet to be released Piledriver architecture ... so here it is.

I want to make a few things clear though.

Post a question relevant to the topic, or information about the topic, or it will be deleted.

Post any negative personal comments about another user ... and they will be deleted.

Post flame baiting comments about the blue, red and green team and they will be deleted.

Enjoy ...

Screw AMD and INTEL I'm guying a tablet for my gaming pc.

Lol i here angry birds is quite nice.

I'm expecting 8350 NAOW! It's not like they haven't failed to release a better cpu in like..3 years..FX/Bulldozer release was unacceptable.I'm ready..I've been ready for ..hm..since 11/10
When your job is to produce a better cpu..You should probably produce a better cpu.

Quite true

Don't mind king smp, he doesn't even have a 6 core cpu.

:ouch:

Where is mal anyways? I've been Gone because of Internet issues! Hate being home for the summer!

This one is new to me ...

Tons. The effect varies depending on your program, as I've already explained. It works the same as having multiple CPUs.

In DX9 benchmarks my dGPU will be fully loaded with the 6620g spiking up on occasion, minimal gains but no lowering of performance. In DX10/11 benchmarks both GPUs are loaded and gains are noticeable, still not very significant but that's to be expected. The 6620g isn't exactly a powerful GPU and then 7690M is so much stronger that the iGPU only adds a few percentage points worth of power. Also the iGPU shares the same TDP as the CPU which limits performance unless you play with core speeds and know how to use K10stat.
Im pretty sure Dx9 isn't supported for dual graphics with llano. Only dx10/11. You get less FPS than the discrete gpu if you have dual graphics in DX9 games.

Your right, Dual View doesn't work with DX9, it'll only use the fastest one available (dGPU). Having it enabled WILL NOT give you slower performance, you just won't get higher performance. I can recheck benchmarks tonight when I go home, seeing as I actually have one of these systems sitting in my living room.

Hey guys, I spoke with mal a while back. I know where hes gone. I keep in touch with him quite often. If you must know he got busy at work and had to "Take a break" from toms for a while. HE has left me in charge of his "Spot" he said. He will be back though

Uh oh, the ship is officially sinking now:

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20120723-715177.html

The executive overseeing Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s (AMD) relationship with videogame-console makers has left the company to join rival Nvidia Corp. (NVDA), taking with him years of experience in the competitive field.

Bob Feldstein, who joined AMD when the company acquired graphics-chip maker ATI in 2006, has taken on the role of vice president of technology licensing at Nvidia. He most recently served as AMD's corporate vice president of business development and also led the company's Boston Design Center, which focuses on design engineering for AMD's various chips.

It's all about what the cpu is used for. For a workstation-style use (rendering/editing, etc.) the FX-8120 at $170 is a good deal. If all your doing is gaming, Intel is the way to go. Any thing over an unlocked i5 is overkill right now.

You forgot one important thing here.

The way developers utilize CPU's and how AMD designed theirs, could change in the next few years, meaning newer programs make better use of the FX Modules and thus bring in better performance numbers in AMD's favor.

You seem to write out software from the future, like saying this:

Who cares if a cpu rocking 8 cores or 20 cores but if most games/apps use 2-4 cores then its pointless.

The problem with that statement, is in 2 years, that will most definitely change.
