[citation][nom]monsta[/nom]Goodluck with that AMD...... Nvidia just kicked your butt too[/citation]

I get a kick out of comments like this, they only come out after there(Nvidia) new card was released, where was this comment last week?
Not to mention, without AMD in the processor market,we'd all be enjoying our $500 i3's..

[citation][nom]Pezcore27[/nom]AMD, how are you going to compete with IVY, when you can't even truly compete with nehalem?[/citation]

Misleading title is misleading but seeing ppl comment around here about core I3 you must be a marketing idiot and a fanatic intel fanboy to even try compare the I3 be it w/e version vs bulldozer. the I3 can`t even keep pace with a Phenom II while multitasking. Yeah intel is good at the top but below the I5 line is crappier than what AMD has to offer. And here i`m not talking about games where the charts are about few fps .

Many people would buy the i3-2100 and make the jump over to an i5-3570k or i7-3770k, it's all about upgrading and life long efficiency of a system. This is something that amd does not have and has proven to fail with the fx bulldozer cpus.

BUT CAN I GET THAT SO PROMISED STEPPING REVISION
or are these the same old Zambezi crap as the initial release, FX-4100 and such.?
BUT THEN WHO CARES....?
just focus all your attention to PILEDRIVER AND TRINITY in attempt to save your sorry butts.
dang server chip being passed off as a desktop, get outta here with this crap.

AMD tries to catch up with Ivy Bridge, and still will lag behind Sandy Bridge. IB isn't even that much more gain in performance (5-10% in most cases) over SB, but AMD's Bulldozer series can't even come close to competing with that. That successor Bulldozer product that AMD claims will be "25% faster and more efficient" is needed to compete just with SB. Haswell will be out within a year to make the lead even further.

AMD needs a miracle or a big break right now.

and who says they are going up against Ivy, I hope not AMD because didn't they release or make a statement about NOT competing with Intel anymore...?
so maybe the title of article needs to be edited some.?
my opinion.

Sigh, you fanboys will never get it. AMD doesn't need to beat Intel to be successful, this game has been going on since the early 90's, nothing has changed except you guys turned from infants to teenage noobers.

AMD actually gained market share on Intel this quarter, so.....yeah

Stole the words right out of my mout..... keyboard.
Honestly everyone is down on AMD...fine, but without competition Intel chips would be Ferrari priced. You think Apple has big margins. Intel would be making 10000% margins

They have too get out a performance boost so they dont fall behind that crucial "half as fast" point for marketing purposes. I firmly believe AMD will remain past "half as fast" and be able to continue doing decent business with the red zombies.

+1 geekapproved.

it's all about the shareholders... the goal of the company isn't to beat Intel, but to make money for it's shareholders... a gain in market share (all other things constant) is a gain to the shareholder... so whether the net gain from the mobile sector superseeds the overall loss in market share in the desktop chip sector, AMD is making profits, AMD will survive, and we'll enjoy the fruits of this unbalanced competition.... imagine if there was no competition....

funny thing... AMD reminds me of Toyota in the late 80's... no North American car manufacturer saw them as a threat... look at the car market today....

Although I've been an AMD user since upgrading from the second-generation Celeron, Ivy Bridge will probably be included in my final, last ever build. I don't think desktops are going to be feasible five years from now and with the focus on tablets, ultra low power laptops and console games, the top Ivy Bridge non-Extreme model will probably be enough for the next five years.

After that we're probably looking at a tablet-like computer that can seamlessly and wirelessly connect to nearby displays, input devices, etc and the desktop will be history.
