amd r9 390 vs gtx 970

390 has a small advantage in fps, but is also more power hungry.
390 has a memory advantage, so running memory intensive games and high resolutions should be easier.
on the other hand - nvidia is known to have better drivers...

so, it all depends on which games you play - those who favour green or red....

currently? yes, it's the better card (except in witcher 3)...
but!
since there have been some issues reported (best guess is due to drivers), my personal pick would be 970.
if not 970, then i'd also consider r9 290, since it performs at ~5% below the r9 390 and is priced reasonable better.

In my opinion the Nvidia GTX 970 is better. Thats why I got it.

Head to head in most situations and sometimes the Nvidia wins and sometimes AMD.
