Whoa, where are you getting your numbers for TDP on the 5450. 40W is totally wrong for the 5450. This is what I see as TDP for the 5450 and the 5550 according to AMD(TDP max)
5450 @ 19.1W
5550 @ 39 W

Not *quite* right, as the 5450's power is 'typical' and the 550's is 'maximum'. But I've updated the article with these published numbers.

If the 6450 is primarily intended for HTPC, how about comparing it to integrated offerings such as Sandybridge? How do they compare on noise/power in HTPC use? support for blu-ray, stereo 3D, post processing, HQV, transcoding speed, etc. In other words, does the 6450 actually offer a better HTPC than what you get from a Core i3-2100?

Depends on the game. The 6450 can handle World of Warcraft because that's an easy game to handle, but if gaming is your goal you're better off with a Radeon HD 5570 at the very least--not much more expensive, but a much better gaming card.

NCIX.com has two amazing deals on the HD 6450. The Gigabyte is $35 and the XFX is $40. Both have a mail-in rebate of $20. The idea of this card for under $20 is incredible (even if it is the GDDR3 version). I'm an XFX guy and I'll pay the extra $5 for a free copy of Orcs Must Die! Really, really, I like the double lifetime warranty and it's a fanless version whereas the Gigabyte has a fan. The fact that the XFX has 1GB while the Gigabyte has 512MB is completely immaterial because the 6450 doesn't even have enough power to use 512MB. I'd say that 256MB would have been more than enough for this card since nothing short of an HD 4870 can use more than 512MB. This will go right into my mom's HTPC that I'm building with an old Core 2 Duo E6720 1.86GHz. Should be a beauty and it really goes to show how useful older parts can be. :sol:
