Well good that they can at least probably trade blows with the 4080, but I would have liked to see the XTX be a bit further ahead. Maybe final release or a few revisions of drivers will help push things ahead. Makes the $100 less XT seem to be in a bit of a weird spot pricing wise.

Praise AMD for their cheap $1000+ GPUs. They just love their customers.
All the while NVIDIA even though their GPUs are more expensive to make charge more. Bad NVIDIA. Praise loving and caring AMD. I wish all corporations were like them.
AMD also releases worse CPUs then their 3D chips which should just be what they produce except maybe 7950. Praise AMD. They are so good.

I find it amusing that people now think that $1000 is an acceptable price. lol Once you factor in the AIB mark up, these will be the same price as a 4080, yet with a worse feature set. Basically, the same old song and dance by AMD.

Seems to be good news for GPU enthusiasts. Even if one was considering to get a 4080, having competition means that instead of charging a premium, the price may get pushed down a bit. And that in turn could also mean that the price e.g. for 3090 gets pushed down a bit as well, and so on.

The top tier of new GPUs releasing at over $1,000, that isn't new. But sure is quite pricey for a hobby, especially on low income and with high rent. In some cases it can also be about accountancy though - meaning that when someone spends hundreds every year on loot boxes and other microtransactions, that is a lot of money there which could pay even for 4K gaming hardware instead.

There is zero common sense in complaining about low income and high rent when talking about FLAGSHIP cards.

Why does someone on low income and paying high rent NEED a flagship card?

There is an absolute abundance of RTX 3000 series and cheap RX 6000 series on the market now, why in the WORLD does someone barely making ends meet NEED a flagship card that is just releasing? Absolutely bizarre line of thought.

Loot boxes? Microtransactions? Who NEEDS these to play games on low income? What in the world?

Good news? I think not. There is no real competition here, AMDs cards can't challenge Nvidia pound for pound so prices stay high for both because Nvidia can charge what they want and AMD only needs to undercut them by a small amount. What you need is a competitive 3rd player to put pressure on at least one of the two.

You buy what you can afford. It would be nice to have a 4090, but 1600 is crazy. For 1600 I could have a nice gaming pc. Even for the 1000 for the 7900xtx. At 1440p for example a 6700xt does pretty decent for not a lot of money. I’ve been seeing used 6700xt cards under 300 bucks recently.

Exactly. And most people who are "struggling to pay rent" don't even have 1440p screens, they are still on 1080p.

A 6700XT or a 3070 blows the hell out of basically any game at that resolution.

That's a little disappointing because the 6900 XT came real close to matching the 3090 in rasterization. Ray Tracing is a big meh to me. I turn it off as it offers no value while i'm gaming.

A tad disappointed, I hope when it comes to organic benchmarks the XTX can keep up and even beat the 4080. Cause if the XTX turns out to trail in raster and get crushed on RT it won't be as attractive a deal; it also gives Nvidia the chance to make the 4080 more competitive by dropping the price.

Isn't it strange the rumours had that the 7900XT would stomp over the RTX4090? AMD ended up on a "previous gen node" and actually having trouble to match the 4080? Bro what happened?? And what's up with this XTX nonsense? "8900XTXX, XTX, XT, X, non, pick your flavour 🤡" If the 7900 XTX $1000 (RTX4080), then the 7800XTX (4070Ti/3090Ti) will be $800, the 7700XTX (6900XT/3080Ti) $600, and the 7600XTX (6800/3070Ti) $400. Right now the RX6800 (3070Ti) is selling around $400 used so yeah .. thats what its shaping to be. Something really went wrong AMD side because the 7700XT was supposed to match de 3090TI for those $600 while the 7900XT could have been $1200 but at least matching the 4090. Did Nvidia locked then out of node tech by paying up TSMC or dual GPU did not perform as they expected? That's lame.. but oh well at least the performance is there for whoever has the money to pay for it

These 40series/7000series aren't the cards that will be most popular anyway, these are just for the entrenched fanboys to peddle narratives over while preaching their Green or Red gospel to an audience that largely isn't listening.

The bang for buck ticket will come next year, in terms of price/performance, power/efficiency, noise/temps which is where most people are at.

Meanwhile both companies are gleefully happy placing the new cards at prices that are significantly above the previous generation in order to keep the previous series prices high.

Been looking at a 6800XT in the UK for a month, suddenly even they have gone from £650 back up to £700-750 on average.

Really, really look forward to Intel getting their act together and disrupting this market. Not placing any bets though, could take a while.

The prices are going nowhere but up. Don’t expect things to get cheaper from here.

just like what happened to model trains. Now it’s only a rich man’s game with individual pieces costing in the thousands.
