Ok, trying to speak too much in too few words hurt my point, so let me clarify:

I had an FX 8120 (always at 3.6GHz), and now own an i3 6100. The FX was usable, but not good in Skyrim, for example, while the i3 is probably good enough too. The thing is I played it without issues on both processors, and unless I measure, I can't really tell which one is which. I agree that many games will have framerates below acceptable on an FX, but that's why Ryzen is here. That is a near-universal conclusion.

BUT then you look at overall system performance, and discover that two cores, even with HT, are not enough for any heavy task. I work with Unity, and anytime I compile a build there's mouse and sound stuttering, and the whose system is almost unusable. When on the FX, I couldn't find a way to make anything lag or stutter, because of the additional threads. It was slower, but the system felt smooth all the time.

Which brings me to my point: Skylake has great IPC, but dual cores must die. We could live with unresponsive systems on the early dual core eras, but today, when CPUs have as much as 10 cores, it's not acceptable. So saying the i3 is a good CPU is telling half the story, it can handle dedicated tasks well, but is very bad at multitasking. I don't care if Ryzen is 20% slower, because it has 4 real cores, I'll recommend the R3 over the i3 anytime.

Juan. if this is true, is it still ~Sandy Bridge IPC correct right?
(I'm not sure how to math this, but if we use Athlon X4 Cinebench R10 - Single Threaded Benchmark, 4265. 4265 *1.52,=6482.2) So that's barely above Sandy Bridge if I assume 52 percent is the MINIMUM.

Now, if I take that the 1800 (flagship 8c, 16t) =95% of the 6900k (Cinebench R10 - Multi-Threaded Benchmark)
48835*0.95=~46393.25.
46393.25/6482.2=7.51
Does that mean that Ryzen was significantly higher IPC than ~>52%?

Please feel free to point out any errors, math is not my strongest subject, (and I am not sure how most of you calculate baselines).
N.b Someone show me how clock speeds affect IPC please :(

Not sure if posted yet - to be released on Feb 22nd, 2017 (today).

Top of the line is planned at $499 (Ryzen 7 1800X).
Runs at 3.6-4.0 (4.1 with XFR) with (as known before) 8 cores and 16 threads.
Only 95 watts.

Juan Anandtech uses a water cooler in their 6900k reviews, AMD uses stock 140w Intel cooler, if you were to water cool the 1800x what score would it get?

I am not going to hand over green old men printed on dead trees until the official reviews are out.

Shouldn't that be green dead men printed on shredded jeans?

The official specifications and pricing for the R7 line seems promising, going so far as to undercut Intel's top of the line by half. I'm more curious about the R5 and R3. The idea of getting a 4C/8T CPU for $150 is awesome. A 6C/12T CPU at that price would be even better, but I think that may be wishful thinking.

So they have links to pre-order the Ryzen 7 on Amazon but none seem to work.
On newegg, I found the ASRock and ASUS mobo's by searching for Ryzen.
If you search X370 nothing comes up.

I guess we need to wait a little longer for things to appear online to pre-order

I've seen the Ryzen 7 1700 on newegg now for $329

OYG ... it's real.
Just one question: I checked online, cldnt find anything on duckduckgo. ;)
What about the Leaks (now almost becoming irrelevant) but has AMD ever denied the Leaks, (do actually Tech companies ever do that? - deny ?)
This is important. I don't wanna do retro thinking, but ppl should think more. For sure. The leaks could also be a new tactic of Intel ppl, just spreading "expectations" around so that a huge non matching the expectations sentiment would erupt against AMD.
(Sorry for the two lines that smell like cospiracy, it's not). tactics are infinte.

Anyway, seriously here and also elsewhere nobody has talked about what could happen considering Intel it's way more huge company then AMD and with a lot of "connections" ... AMD could really take or (start) eat again the cake only intel ate so far, and we could even reach the opposite point nobody (again) really mentions: No competition, because Intel will be out for a while.. and I mean.. we are just a few moments to discover it.

Unless Intel pulls out some stuff. I am AMD just for what Intel has seemngly done in the past and who is owned by ..(it's political, sorry, but what we consume always is if we are informed) and we should still worry about competition. Hopefully there will be space also for other competitors not just for 2.

Regarding last POSTs: you guys talk about USA, what about Europe, could you refer to any possible web site where to find these items?
So far the PRICES OF THE LEAKS ARE CONFIRMED (they were true)

EDIT: are the Prime X370 the B350 and the crossair hero VI available for Crossfire (2x GPU) or not?
I hope that by watching the video James Mason has posted my 12 year old computer won't get upset...

No...it is beyond Sandy Bridge IPC from these benchmarks. At worst it matches haswell...at best it is a little closer to broadwell.

From some of the benches, it is as close as within 7% of Kaby Lake per clock.

I am a bit disappointed that Gigabyte does not have something on par with the Crosshair VI or the Asrock Taichi available at launch. Was expecting something at least like the UD7 from last gen...kind of let down by that to be honest. Not sure if I want to overpay for the Asus Hero, or just go with the Taichi.
