After i'm done crying. I would Start a Folding farm and then prove why the world won't end in 2012 with many geologic simulations. I would also use it for genetics. Time to create the prefect human!

i just hate it when they put a contest but limit it to just US (and sometimes Canada).
there are other countries in the world that buy cutting (bleeding??) edge GPUs too.

Just wondering what the point is in ivesting into upping the number of cores...
The future is GPU computing - far cheaper and has been proven!!!
I'd rather get a Nvidia Tesla..

Not any regular person is gonna win anyway, besides what do GPUs have to do with CPUs?

i meant to say CPUs... i clicked too fast! :))

man, i really wish they have edit button for this thing...

assign 1 core for word, assign 1 to outlook, assign 1 for the anti virus, then ask my girlfriend to surf the web for 2 hours to fill the other cores with viruses.

practically useless for me, though I'm a gamer, no applications are optimized to take on so many cores, leave alone 4 cores that I already have. Besides there is a diff between general core optimizations and specific application based core optimization.

Stupid USA/Canada restriction! I was going to say I've reached the limit of my i7-920 by trying to simultaneously decode 12 JP2 streams over the network which are coming from hardware image encoding devices at up to 30hz.. NEED FASTER! 🙂

The first thing I always do once I receive a new and even more powerful computer.... It is the most fundamentally taxing of all tasks for any CPU level, greater still requires nerves hard as forged adamantium, skill greater than that of the universe's greatest champion.

I run... a game of solitare...i Remember back on a 486 when the cards at the end would only slowly do their dancing thing. Things have improved since then though....lol you know, with a half decent graphics card chucked in there for the mix I wonder how many fps the original doom would play at, can you even fraps that?
