we already discussed in the other post why its not being detected, and anandtech check the system aswell, and check the benchmarks with others and you will see the same results and even if there 5% off its still far far away from conroe.

This is P6 tech guys - Pentium 4 let us down, but P6 never.

If this was AMD benchmarks we wouldnt be arguing bout them you would accept them but when its Intel you dont.

I fully agree - as much as I am pro AMD and hate Intel. The Intel hate stemming from the simple fact that they removed SMP from Celerons back in 2000 making my ABIT BP6 motherboard useless.

Since then I have been buying AMD - even if the performance was not up to it - specially on the notebook side.

The new Intel CPUs is a SERIOUS wakeup call to AMD.

So engineers at AMD, you better get something going - else you will be back to selling at discounted levels in stead of current highly overpriced CPUs.

Intel is Seriously going to kick a*s with their new offerings.

I wonder how low the prices will go for AMD's X2's now that there (or are going to be) 2nd best in performance, and Intel charging good prices for there cpus.

AMD has always given us low cost performance chips (and usually hotter) within 10% performance, conroe somehow managed to slip ahead in short time which is amazing (it was done in less time then expected), and there proud of it and for once they have made a great chip.

If AMD ever makes a matching cpu, its going to be a monster, along with Intels answer, but it looks like Intel will be leading for a year or two atleast, along with quad core and so on (AM2, 65nm countered by Intel with 45nm quad core and soon after, Integrated Memory Controllers).
 
until conroe is out on the market we can't really tell who is the best 8O

We've already seen benchmarks for AM2 and Conroe with both using DDR2-667 (cause DDR2-800 and 1066 will be used on release) - conroe has a REAL 20% lead for once (not a BS "lead").

Um.... by the way - we havnt heard anything about the budget and single core Conroe (forgot the name) based cpus - how fast will they be (both clock speed and performance)!?!?!?!??!?!

It would be insane if intel released the celeron conroe part and it matched an A64 for a rock bottom price, and the fast single core processors were clocked at really high clock speeds like 3.4ghz... that would cause a real stir... ouch...

We also havnt seen the FSB advantage of the conroe EE (FSB1333 vs the standard 1066 fsb) - will the fsb really pack a punch like the initial release?

And woodcrest - using dual fsb's will be like twice the conroe taking on AMD which scales really well - whats that going to turn out like?
 
there is still a lot to see. what I wanted to say is that we can't come out with a conclusion only after a cpu release we must wait and see how it will perform in the open market because that is the only REAL cpu test there is (my opinion 8) )

as in cost for performance for your personal use then yeah - gotta wait and see.

AMD X2's might return to the AMD sweet spot price - like the athlon xp's (10% slower, 30% cheaper or whatever) - might see them turn into a cheap alternative to be used in general systems if the price is right... Thats what i find best bout the AMDs when there not leading (but when intel isnt they sell cheap aswell i suppose...)

LOL - Prescott is like the ole athlon xp - cheaper and hotter then the winning competition.

I wonder if the athlon 64 in ten years will be the same as the commodor 64 "ah remember the old athlon64 - they pushed out some good performance" LOL

I (and prolly most others) dont mind so much people that like one brand to another but when BS starts flying then yeah its bad.

Im actually an intel fanboy, but not what your thinking - I love the good old P6 tech (Pentium pro, pentium 2 and pentium 3) - everyone has a favourite brand, but when people like MMM go on about intel and BS like that, you get the idea, he got up me for agreeing with someone to wait for conroe to see what it would turn out like - thats BS

Me liking Intels also doesnt mean i wont touch amd - they will become cheap and make good multimedia pcs and servers and so on where as the faster and expensive chips are used as main pcs, and as always they will leapfrog again.
 
I am an price/performance fanboy
now I have an AMD 64 cpu but if intel will release a better p/p cpu I would gladly make the transition :)

1) Uhm..you call a company proclaming their own product as a "reliable source"?
2) It's a performane jump because those were benchmarks with bad AMD tech, a motherboard that doesn't recognize the CPU, a "modified ATI driver", and a bad DFI ATI board, and comparing DDR1 to DDR2.
3) 6 months isn't "just around the corner", alot of things can happen in 6 months Troll.

you lot r like vultures sometimes, maybe u shud go for a bike ride or a walk or sumthing , might help release sum steam out of ur ears that has been building up over the years, omg . AMD have had some flops , intel have had a lot of flops, AMD r generally 'far'(maybe not) better these days, both em r laughing coz theyre just rich people at the end of the day. getin richer every day too , no use supportin em, just get whats best for u - power to the people , no question both em lie at their own inernal benchmarks , thats one reason to wait for thousands of independant benchmarks that r just round the corner. i agree with what the bunny just sed bout price/performance. mad mod mike needs to get a stress ball with 'intel' written on it, btw wot does 'troll' actually mean?
 
What pisses MadModMike off is Fanboys that are blind to the facts and will only support their brand.

Mike, face it, there is a good possibility that Conroe will be better than current AMD procs. If that is the case, I have faith that AMD will catch up.

I do disagree with Intel fanboys on one point: Intel has NOT won the performance race until you can BUY a processor that beats the top AMD offering. Conroe is nothing more than a dream for us people because we can't get one. Until then, I'll be drooling over an FX-60.

I do agree with DVDpiddy, this thread is stupid and pointless. I think MadModMike has a lot of knowledge and I don't always agree with his AMD only point of view, but we don't need to devote an entire thread to ripping on him.

what real benchmarks the cpus are not reatail yet

if thay have been tested both was likey test chips the AM2 one was i think them resluts should have not been published as the cpu was broken any way P6? dono
it still be intresting when thay both come out (we then get some proper tests)
 
Here what funny. When Intel release the p4 Presscott. It was smaller then Amd was .130 nm And Intel was .090. But Intel was a heater. Now let Note one thing. Intel did not show Temp in score. What dose this tell you. Smaller dont mean cooler. I wish Intel and amd would do there test at the same time.
 
Hehe did'nt post in a lil' while. But yea We should not trust Intel Benches. When Tom's or anyone of you guys get this processer. Lol if anyone ever buys Intel on this Fourm. Can do some homebenching and see what the Retail version can acutally do and We should compare this to the AM2 not what AMD has out at the moment. That's like Comparing XBOX 360 to the Undesided and unknown PS3. I hope AM2 and PS3 turn Out to be better than what they are rumored to be. even if a few dollars more Expensive but genuine performance and Effeincy.
