No, you're either fake laughing or merely stating that you are laughing without actually laughing just to sway the emotions of mousemonkey.

Why would I care about his emotions? That seems to be your job LOL

What he [ and you] need to do is consider why you feel so threatened by the possibility of AMD making an improved processor that you think it important to attack someone who is willing to discuss that

Dude what facts are you arguing? I get it, you love AMD. Stop ranting on because there was some news about AMD which wasn't positive. It isn't even all that negative. AMD's CEO stated that it would be out in 2016 a few months ago, and now the company's CFO said that it will be out most likely 12-14 months from when it was taped out, which was just in the last few months. Q1 2017 is just a little over 12 months away, and if it is released in Q1 2017, then that means it was delayed. Are you really incapable of understanding simple concepts like time, in order to know that that 2017 is after 2016?

The information that I have to support this is listed in the article and in my comments, it comes from a credible source, and there is nothing about it which can be construed as a rumor in any way.

I don't care about AMD, I care about the fact that you have NO facts. Possible delay... anything is possible. Why even bother, when it's based on nothing except people's expectations (as you said before they "expected" it to be out by now, which is silly). I only ever mentioned early 2017 as being approximately within the normal realm of tape out to launch timeframes. I didn't say that anything pointed to a 2017 release, I have yet to see anything that indicates other than late 2016 thus far. So yeah it's just a rumor.

But if that gets you clicks, go for it. If you're so unable to be wrong that you cannot acknowledge that this is a rumor, then there's no point really. Merry Christmas.

I wonder how long before Outlander_04 and alextheblue downvote that post?

I have seen no reason to. I haven't even downvoted any of your posts here. You hate AMD and their fans, you've made that clear. Not sure why, but it doesn't matter. I care not what happens to AMD, they've been lazy. I get branded an AMD fanboy just for not shatting all over everything they do. If you say such and such product is OK and it's an AMD chip, you're an "AMD fanboy".

Anyway, the only issue I have is with the article and it's missing rumor tag for a "possible delay" when thus far everything still appears to be on track and nothing he posted shows contrary.

I dont think anyone has said it not important or even that there are no advantages .

What I can tell you is that structurally 14 lpe and lpp seem to be identical since they are made on the same machines on the same production lines . If they are not it still doesn't matter because LPP is in production , yields are better than expected , and by the time ZEN is ramping up production there will be another 6-8 months or more to fine tune the process and improve yields .
GloFo will have a year or more of experience with 14nm LPP . Is it credible that will cause a delay?

No , it is not and anyone speculating along those lines is probably doing so because they are feeling a little threatened by AMD's resurgence

Again you are proclaiming this with no credible sources, short of WCCFTechs rumor mill, while this article is a interview with execs from AMD. That makes a pretty big difference.

As well, having experience in a process node is not the same once you start applying a uArch to it. The uArch can present other issues depending on the complexity of the uArch itself. Look at Intels Netburst vs Conroe. When both used 65nm Conroe was a better uArch that used less power on the same process node due to its better design.

renz469, there is a good reason why not only NVidia but AMD also skipped 20nm. Not only did TSMC have yield problems but costs were up and the power was having issues. As well a GPU, as we all know, is not a low power design and requires silicon that can handle the extra power. It is much like, as I said before, the process nodes for NAND and SRAM. Great for those applications but would not work for high power CPUs and GPUs.

If you want to see "proclaiming without credible sources" then I suggest reading the article this thread is discussing.
Despite the articles author linking to AMD sources that confirm a Q4 2016 release of Zen he declares a delay is likely.

Rather than go round and round in this discussion shall we take a bet ?
I say that Zen will be in retail channels on or before Q4 2016 .
If they are not I will buy you a top of the range i5 . If they are you buy me a top of the range Zen 8 core .
Just accept here and then next year I will give you my address so you can ship it to me .

You might get lucky. Its even possible a meteorite will strike the NY Fab . Its just very very unlikely .

Sorry MM, I stand corrected. I had to look to see what you were talking about - I didn't realize it was one of your posts. Sometimes I don't look. I did feel that it was unwarranted given the lack of pro-AMD comments. The vast majority of comments at the time were actually anti-AMD and gloom and doom based on the article's err... "information".

And again, before I get branded a fanboy, I think AMD is going to be purchased by another major firm if they don't succeed with Zen. The most likely candidate would be Samsung given the process sharing with GloFo. They don't need them, but it would allow them to expand their influence into additional markets, using their own fabs even.

Speaking of Global Foundries, I think AMD screwed themselves on that whole deal for quite some time. If it wasn't for the agreement with Samsung, GloFo might as well have shuttered.

I read the article and I read the linked article. I also posted quotes showing what the author of this article was talking about, that there is no set in stone date for release (yet you insist Q4 2016 it will be) and that if you calculate based on what the AMD exec said it is possible they might delay to till Q1 2017, which is off from their roadmaps that just say 2016. Again the word is "possible" not "absolutely".

You are also failing to link anything. You refer to the linked article, why don't you actually quote or link something?

I am not saying there is a delay just that you are proclaiming solid facts with nothing to back them up short of links from WCCFTech that are meaningless since the site has killed its reputation with rumors.

BTW, your bet is a bit unfair. The top end i5 is $200-$300 while I am betting that if Zen is what they say it will be the top end 8 core Zen will be $500-$600 (mid end LGA 2011 i7).

Or are you assuming that if performance is actually god AMD is just going to be nice and price it at the i5 range? Because if it is good enough, they sure as hell wont.

You seemed so sure of yourself , and now its too risky because you might be wrong and a Zen 8 core will cost too much?

And , no , you have not linked to anything that says there will be a delay .

Either you are sure there is a delay and you will happily take a free i5 from me or you are not .
Looks like not from where Im sitting

I just stated it is an unfair bet. Why are you so afraid to up it to a LGA 2011 i7 that will be where the top 8 core Zen will probably be priced?

I never said there was going to be a delay but using the information in this article, that we are discussing, I provided quotes from an AMD exec that show that there is a possible delay depending on a lot of factors that neither you nor I can take into account because we do not work for AMD.

You on the other hand are insisting that Zen will be out Q4 2016 with no proof, which is all I asked for, to back up your claims because AMD has not stated any time frame, be it a day, week, month or quarter, for the release of Zen. Instead they have stated they are expecting it to be out in 2016 but again that is never a 100% since we know nothing of the internal problems that could arise.

Instead of just accepting that the author is stating there could be a possible delay you are just arguing that "nope, no delay. I know, I know everything about what is happening with AMD" as if you work for them.

Seriously, how hard is it to link a damn source for why you think it will be out in Q4 2016, and no I still don't nor will I ever count WCCFTech as anything more than rumors. I mean something like the linked article in this article with an official statement from AMD. Not some assumption based on where GloFlo is with their 14nm process node, which does not entirely affect AMD BTW since they are their own entity.

I agree its a totally unfair bet . But only because you have no chance of winning

"Zen remains on track for availability in 2016 and, we believe, will return AMD to the mainstream server and high-end client markets in a significant way in 2017 and beyond."
Thats a direct quote from Lisa Su
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/edited-transcript-amd-earnings-conference-075552233.html
Note also the date , and that multiple products have been taped out at that point

And, no , you have not linked anything that suggests a delay of any kind .
Go ahead and try

Now was that so hard?

And while it is finally a credible source it still does not mean a 100%. CEOs are not in the nitty gritty part of the CPU. Neither are the CFOs. So maybe the CFO was talking out of place but he specifically said 12-14 months after the products have been tapped out, which from October means 10/2016 or even up to 1/2017.

So which is right and which is wrong? Neither of us know or will know until we get closer to the date and more information becomes available. Until then all you can do, or the author and even I, is speculate with the information we get.

And again no one said there was 100% absolutely going to be a delay. Just that based on the information given by the CFO from AMD that there could be if things do not go as planned, and that can happen as there are no 100% guarantees in life.

Of course they could do another paper launch like they did before. That of course doesn't count but hey it will be a launch.

That information is already provided[ multiple times] in links in the original article , and via the earlier links I posted but which you insist cant be genuine because of the source .
What is abundantly clear is that you [ along with the author of the article] have absolutely zero information indicating a delay . That makes the article title and pretty much everything you have written just trolling and intel fan worship .

Seriously dude you are so committed to this that you wont take my bet even though you [ according to you] will be getting a free i5 ?

Where did I ever say there was a delay? I never did. I just stated that it is possible since neither you nor I have any knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes. You act like you do but you do not.

And I don't appreciate you calling me an Intel fanboy. Just because I am not all puppies and sunshine for AMD does not mean I am a fanboy. In fact short of my 980Ti I have not bought a non AMD GPU for 13 years. I also happen to have more AMD products total in my home than Intel, that being a single i5 4670K while I have 3 other AMD CPUs in my home. So please keep it from getting personal.

And again, you are acting as if you know more than anyone else when all you are doing is taking the information that is present and making an assumption, much like the article. The only difference is you are presenting it with arrogance.

So there is no reported delay and the article contains unfounded speculation .
Speculation that is contrary to facts reported by AMD in their annual financial reporting .

It would have been simpler if you had noticed that the first 20 odd times that was pointed out to you

BTW I didnt call you a fanboy . As a moderator Im sure you would have reacted to mouse monkeys personal and insulting comments earlier in this thread so thank you for that

pretty much everything you have written just trolling and intel fan worship .

That was in the last response to me. You pretty much, in a very backhanded way, call me a troll and an"Intel Fan Worshiper". That seems pretty damn personal to me.

And again, no one said there was a delay just that for now we are expecting 2016 and if any problem arises it could easily be pushed to 2017 since it is so damn close.

And your facts are just the CEO proclaiming what their projected release is, nothing more. The article links a interview with the CFO from AMD, more recent at that.
